Re: Monday Night Raw has been this weak for how long?

I like the extra hour of RAW. I found it much worse when it was two hours.

Maybe I don't mind as much because I download the episodes which have no breaks and I can skip the boring parts?

If they were 8 back then, guess what? They're 16 now. 16-18 years old is when guys start to rebel, even if it's just alittle bit. Do you really think they want to sit in front of a TV for 3 hours every Monday night and watch the guy they grew up watching be the SAME exact guy he was when they were 8? Of course not.

You have to have these guys re-invent themselves every now and then to stay fresh. Look at guys like Undertaker, HBK, Triple H, Rock, and Austin. Back when they were all full timers and in their prime, they constantly changed at least 1 thing about themselves in an 8-9 year time period. The face of the company the past 8 years hasn't. How is that the case, especially in the 21st century when all forms of entertainment are about staying fresh, relevant, and hip?

Unless they change their ways, this company is in alot of trouble going forward. A 3.1 rating in the go-home edition of Raw before WM is fucking sad and has to scare them. If they think putting the title on Cena again and him being the same face he's been since 2005 is going to cure everything, they are sorely mistaken.

This is why I just can't stomach Cena anymore. It's been 10 years of the same shit except a different colored t-shirt. All the big stars like you mentioned have gone through from babyface to heel at least, and completely new characters. Hell even Hogan eventually went heel and it was amazing. Unfortunately back then, WWE could take more risks because you didn't have just one guy holding up the company. They are too afraid to change Cena's character

The product became stale for me when the show became all about Cena and the PG era rushed in. However, they did reel me back in a few years ago when the Nexus angle took off. Now that was fresh and exciting. Wade Barrett was an awesome heel, and I thought finally, we are going to see something new from Cena! Instead, they dumped the angle on CM Punk and gave it no direction and it went nowhere. I just don't understand why creative can't come up with a compelling storyline that has legs.

Either the RAW after RAW 1,000 or about the middle of October 2012. RAW has sucked since then.

Re: Monday Night Raw has been this weak for how long?

Honestly, taking Jim Ross off the air hurt the show a lot. I'm not ripping on Michael Cole, even though he's not even in J.R.'s league, but Ross was the voice of the show.

When RAW first began, Vince McMahon was the voice of the show. Even though he was pretty over-the-top with his "what a maneuver" and "Oh, my goodness!" calls, he was still very well spoken and, being he was the one pulling all the strings in the company, he had his finger on the pulse of everything that was going on and worked his ass off to make you believe in everything that happened on-camera.

Then when Vince became "Mr. McMahon", Jim Ross took over as the lead announcer for RAW and he was able to not only equal Vince on commentary, but far surpass him. His encyclopedic knowledge of all things wrestling coupled with his unbridled passion for the business is why he's the best announcer of all time. I'm sure his position in the WWE's front office also allowed him, like Vince, to have his finger on the pulse of what the company was trying to get over at any given time. Even for years after when he was still just a broadcaster, he never let up for a beat and was the consummate professional, even during the dumber moments, he rose above the on-screen absurdity and made the content seem more legit. And then Kevin Dunn finally got Jim Ross taken off the air for good in favor of Michael Cole.

Michael Cole can't even hold Jim Ross' jock, so, how is he able to fill his shoes? His broadcasting hurts the show badly enough that it makes even the good moments suffer as a result. Here's a man who's lack of wrestling announcing skill has convinced enough people that Randy Orton's DDT from the second rope is actually named "Vintage Orton." Cole has an adequate voice, does decent voice-overs for video packages, and like McMahon before him, has an easily dis-likeable quality about him that made him a great heel, but he should not be at the helm of the flagship show of the WWE - he simply doesn't have the chops. Everyone knows that 90% of what Cole says is being parroted to him by Vince, himself, so why Vince doesn't do commentary himself again in the twilight of his on-screen career, no one knows. You can put Jerry Lawler in that same boat as well, as has been stated many times before. Lawler checked out of being emotionally invested in anything that happens on-screen years ago, he's just there to collect his huge paycheck and go back to Memphis for the other six days out of the week. Lawler keeps his job now because Vince McMahon respects him for being a successful booker in the Memphis territory all those years ago, has been a staple of RAW since 1995, and after last September, had a heart attack and almost died on his live TV show. As a result of McMahon's loyalty, RAW will continue to suffer greatly because he'll never get rid of Lawler.

You fix the fucked up announce team on RAW, you improve the show, instantly.

Michael cole is terrible.

Vince ,ross,Lawler back in the day was a great team and Vince can really talk and he believeable

Jim Ross and Lawler with Vince sometimes is good and I like when jbl and heyman used to do commentary cause they keep it entertaining but real.

Taz and cole was horrible
