I know it's hot in the Raw thread but I wanted to put it to a vote. This segment is definitely going down in history though. Either as a huge mistake, or one of the best segments in history.
EDIT: I voted no for the few posters who somehow interpreted otherwise from my clearly unbiased OP
No I enjoyed it mainly because im sure all parties agree. Im sure there will be a ton who hated though. Fully expect this thread to be merged with tons of others and reach 40 pages by tomorrow maybe.
Honestly, what bothers me the most is that I expected their feud to be about Punk claiming he's better than Taker with his accomplishments and whatnot, and not this silly angle where Punk is telling everybody that he's trying to get under Taker's head, which he shouldn't even say in the first place.
The worst part was Cole .
Uh,what's going on.
It wasn't too much,I liked it anyway.
Besides nothing tops the big show riding his old man's casket :lmao
No, thought it was great. Heyman as Bearer was the highlight of the show, even thought that's not saying much with how bad the rest of the stuff was. Don't think you can go too far in pro wrestling when it involves stuff like this.
It should have been more obvious it was Heyman as Bearer. Also the segment seemed to drag a minute+ with the Druids chanting, all arranged, and Heyman waiting to come out for whatever reason.
Fuck no it was awesome and im sure many including bearers family/sons okayed it and were fine. Im sure Paul Bearer wouldn't mind it at all for the fact they are using him as part of mania. Imo fans such as you original poster are why WWE are allowed to get away with such a shitty product and being politically correct with shit. Appreciate great controversy when WWE actually gives it. Would you rather there be more gay G rated crap honestly? Shit like this is attitude era style shock value.
Funny thing though about angles like these is that WWE clearly attempts to get a shock reaction out of the casuals but its really only the internet fans like the OP who react in the end. Lol
That's the same way I feel about it.. Now if Paul's family told Vince they didn't want him apart of the storyline and Vince just said "screw you" I would find it a little classless. But as long as the family is okay with it I'm perfectly fine. But in all honestly the WWE creative team would have nothing for this storyline without this piece.
I can't disagree with you there, but its not like this is the first time the WWE has used some ones death in a storyline. It won't be the last time either.
It was a great segment, and it's nice to have a feud with some actual heat behind it. Two guys with a grudge against each other, imagine that.
I don't like when they use actual tragedies and deaths in storylines though. There's a difference between something being edgy and just pathetic. It's cheap and pretty low (for the company, I mean). That doesn't lessen the segment, I still thought it was pretty great and am actually interested in the feud now, but I can definitely understand why people might be annoyed with it.
At the very least, it's pathetic that the best storyline going on right now has some heat and has some intensity... and only because someone actually died.
This is exactly what professional wrestling is for me. The Undertaker has every reason in the world to want to kill Punk and I'm looking forward to seeing the punishment he gives him.
Nope. As I have to tell persons who often like to say that wrestling is fake, what do you expect it's a tv show! Everyone is playing character. Paul Bearer was a character, the actual person was William Moody. On the show the character Paul Bearer is being disrespected not the actor who played him. The character and actor are two separate entities, not one. Plus, Moody's family did give the go ahead with the plotline, so I really do not see the problem.
Probably the best part of a terrible Raw. Had no business being the last segment of the go home show for Wrestlemania. They should have done one last showdown between the Rock and Cena.
My problem with the segment is they some how found a way to make the most predictable WrestleMania of all time feel even more predictable.
With Bearer once they took that direction they were all in with it. Personally I think it's cheap heat, disrespectful and lame, but yhey have the family's permission so I don't care.
I think from what i have seen of Paul Bearer in shoot/interview youtube videos would absolutley love it, he was a wrestling entertainment man through and through.
But i thought it was classless and cheap.
I dont remember anything from the attitude era being that level of tacky so please dont bring that excuse up.
Do i want to watch Wrestlemania now after that 10 minute segment ? absolutely.
The boss man stealing the coffin of Big Show's father was above the level of this.
