Changing the commentary team = fresh new look

There have been a tonne of threads about how terrible someone thinks Cole is, Lawler is or both. I just want to talk about getting new commentators not because they are bad, but because it would make the show feel new and fresh.

Cole and Lwler have been the "voices" of the WWE since the 90's. Surely its time we got something new. I think just like a title belt ushers in a new era, a commentary team can do the same and I think this could add a big change and a whole new dynamic to Raw and Smackdown. WWE needs a shake up in alot of departments, and I think this is one of the most stale.

Re: Changing the commentary team = fresh new look

They have to be careful. As bad as Cole and King are now, they need to find suitable replacements, otherwise people who grew up watching WWF in the 90s/early 00s will likely be turned off by too much simultaneous change. Especially if they don't find guys who can actually fill the role of the A-team announcers.

Re: Changing the commentary team = fresh new look

Commentators changed things alot. Notice that 2008 was year WWE changed Raw commentating team and things really started changing into what people call "pg era"

JBL,Cole on Raw for sure.

Don't get why WWE doesn't try using former stars on commentary(if that star wants to) since so many past stars would love to get a good pay with light schedule. I'm sure there's at least 1 guy from past who'd love to work 1-2 days a week doing commentary.

Road Dogg-Matthews on SD would be awesome(they were great on "are you serious", so on SD would be even better)

If they sat down and had a long talk with Matt Striker about reining in his professionalism, I would like to see him back at the announce table.

Definitely, imagine Triple H becoming a commentator similar to Vince McMahon in the near future. But yeah we definetly need fresh voices that can tell the difference between a powerslam and a scoopslam. They have to do this eventually.

Re: Changing the commentary team = fresh new look

Some great suggestions already. We have a former WWE Champion in JBL at the desk, someone like Road Dogg would be a great addition. He seems to really keep up with pop culture. Matt Striker is another who could be good. Also the Miz could work as he has a gig on Main Event, it could transition into a full time gig on Raw or Smackdown.

Edge would probably be great.

Re: Changing the commentary team = fresh new look

The problems aren't only the guys who do the commentaries, the problems are also the facts that :

1. Commentaries are written before matches, there is almost no place for improvisation.
2. They don't focus on the matches anymore and don't tell anything about wrestling.
3. Lame jokes are lame and future matches announcements aren't needed.
4. They don't push the wrestlers and prefer to bury them.
5. Commentaries aren't sporty enough.

etc.

-> Commentators don't enjoy their jobs and seem bored -> change the commentaries writer before to change the commentators.
