Why are they turning Barrett into a comedy character?

I just don't understand any of this at all. They were onto something good building him up as a deadly ass kicker when he returned, yet over the last month or so his character has evolved into a delusional bafoon who believes he's a hollywood star, only to be humiliated time and time again. I'm pretty sure he's losing the belt at Mania too. Barrett to me is one of the best talents in the comapny and could be the next big main event heel if treated properly, yet they just refuse to give the guy a break.

Re: Why are they turning Barrett into a comedy character?

They never really liked him. I'm not a fan of him but the WWE doesn't even try, they give me zero incentive or reason to actually like him or care about him. His booking is atrocious, just like Sandow, who I absolutely love and is one of the most talented wrestlers in the company yet he's treated like a complete and utter joke while talentless idiots like Ryback or Swagger are receiving important pushes.

Defend the weak. Respect the gods. Obey the laws. It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or the other.”

Jerry Lawler made it even worse on commentary by saying " Was he even in the clip at all?" since he only appeared for about 2 seconds in that clip lol. This is just their way to promote that movie. The segment was terrible because it was just to promote their movies. Hopefully it leads to a Jericho vs Barrett match for the IC title.

They're not, they're just repeating the same old movie shit every week. We get it, Barrett is not the main character in Dead Man Down. How many more fucking times are we gonna hear the same old jokes? I wonder who's gonna bully Barrett next week. Those segments are absolutely embarrassing.

They're not really. Barrett's just showing off his humorous side. He's still a very serious character, hence why he attacked both The Miz and Jericho in that match. His little bit of commentary on RAW last night in the Miz/Jericho match was entertaining.

Re: Why are they turning Barrett into a comedy character?

Barrett's doing a good in the delusional role he's playing, but he deserves so much better than that. He should be, as the OP mentioned, an ass-kicker. Instead he's a big guy with a bare-knuckle brawler who constantly gets his ass whooped. Raw was the perfect example of this. He had both Miz and Jericho down, and he he been someone WWE favored/had some desire to actually push, he would've continued the beatdown on both men, but instead it led to him looking like a fool and getting his beat down... by two men, yes, but beat down again. Even Miz mentioned he hasn't won a match in weeks.

I'm watching you...

I don't really think they are but it was pretty fucking funny imo, the way he acts as if he's better than EVERYONE is actually hilarious.

Re: Why are they turning Barrett into a comedy character?

Maybe they are trying to show another side to him, that is, an arrogant annoying side but it's not working. The Miz and Jericho acting like little kids made me wanna punch them both in the gut.

Honestly, Barrett looks like a victim in all of these segments.

If this leads to him winning next week and defeating Jericho at Wrestlemania it will have been worth it.
