Re: Should Antonio Cesaro become the longest reigning US champion in history?
There's no need to rush him into the Main Event, it's already jam packed right now and the mid-card could really benefit from Cesaro.
I think the OP's idea is excellent personally, the only thing is he needs to be featured more prominently and in relevant feuds. As much as I like Cesaro, the other day I completely forgot who the US Champion was. It's something WWE struggles with (see Wade Barrett, in exactly the same position with the IC title) and needs to be fixed before anyone will care about the guy.

Which is exactly why he should break the record.Remember how Punk mentioned about being a champion for 300 days and suddenly people started taking more interest in the championship.

Re: Should Antonio Cesaro become the longest reigning US champion in history?
Cesaro has the look that McMahon wants the only question now is when to push the button GO. I think he can be a successful champion. He hasn't been rushed. He debuted last year. If he wins it in 2013, it will still be over a year. A rushed title win is usually one given to someone in less than a year. Sheamus, Brock Lesnar are examples. The percentages are generally against you getting over when you win the title right away but Cesaro has been built really well.

I'm fine with the idea, however in WWE when they go on reigns like that with midcard titles they end up just turning into a prop on the shoulder of the superstar because Creative wants to push them up the card once their over due to the reign however forget the title's on them. It's always awkward when we have IC vs. WWE Champion etc. because Creative then try and get the title off them or wish they never gave it to them.
Re: Should Antonio Cesaro become the longest reigning US champion in history?
Nah I don't think he needs to hold for an obscenely long time. He's already off to a great start.

Re: Should Antonio Cesaro become the longest reigning US champion in history?
Honestly I think a better idea would be for him to retire the U.S. belt and bring back the European Title.
They should eventually unify the World Titles and streamline the belts back to what they were before.
WWE Title - For the top guys Intercontinental Title - For the upper midcarders about to break thorugh the glass ceiling and the low tier main event guys who aren't megastars like Cena. European Title - For the pure midcarders who WWE doesn't pretend are main event guys

The problem is that there's such a big fap in the card.
Cesaro was given this big push and is regularly having matches against main event guys, yet he isn't on their level yet. However, Cesaro has been pushed so hard, that there are no viable midcard contenders for the belt he holds, because all the midcard faces are jobbers. The Miz, a former WWE Champion and former Intercontinental Champion had to STEP DOWN, so that Cesaro could have a credible opponent.

I hope they don't make the same mistake they did with Cody (I still get angry when I think about it). Antonio won't be main eventing anytime soon, so breaking Luger's record would be perfect IMO. What do you think?
I don't think Longest reigning champion is needed, but a good long run would be great. I don't want them to press the trigger on him in the main event too early, he should rise. He should be the US champion and defeat the likes of Kane, Bryan, Ziggler, Orton as champion and they can build that up for when he steps into the main event. I don't want him to lose the US title and then all of a sudden face Del Rio without even stronger foundations.
Ahh, a kings of Wrestling stable; Punk, Cesaro, Ohno led by Heyman.
