This. HBK may be the most important person in Cena's career by putting him over to the moon.
I actually like Cena at the beginning of his career. But after years and years of seeing the same thing from him, I can't help but start to hate him.It's just like you love eating some food,but if you were to eat it 3 times per day for a 100 days, you wouldn't love the food anymore.
He had been and IS being push WAY too much. And making everything all about him make me hate him even more. Add with the fact that he don't lose,make him even more hard to watch.
It seems like I'm the only person who thought he was annoying as fuck with the white thug rapper gimmick. It took me several months to accept he had a gimmick change and wasn't as annoying as he used to be. Of course, he became annoying in an entirely different way, but at least it became somewhat bearable enough to where I'd at least watch his segments.
I'd dislike Cena more if he went back to the stupid rapper gimmick. It was absolutely terrible. Definitely made me want to turn the channel instead of listen to the fake thug promos he did.
The first time I remember a crowd turning on him was Summerslam 2005....which I was at! Half that crowd hated his guts. I thought it was just an isolated incident, but it seemed to create a trend as the months wore on.
There was also a "FUCK JOHN CENA!" chant at the first ECW: One Night Stand PPV, but I didn't really think anything of it because those were the ECW Mutants, so I thought they were just shitting on WWE for the sake of it, lol.

Guess I was a bit more patient than most people. I was a huge fan and advocate for Cena up to around 2008, all through the hostility, I found it and him entertaining and exciting. Mid-2009 was what really did it for me.
Nearly four years ago I was sat, hoping for something else from a guy more than capable. It's been fucking Groundhog Year ever since and it should be no surprise to the WWE that he gets the reactions he does.
