Have you seen Mark Henry for the past 16 years?
I'll say this. His World Title run a while back was not only the best run he ever had....it was the only good one. And even that was nothing cutting edge or new. They basically took the big man and actually had him win. It really wasn't that different from his runs in 2004 & 2006. The only change was that they had him win, so he came off as more credible.
Before that though, I remember shitty awful Henry that was around forever and ever and ever and ever and was always in line for big pushes and always either sucked or he always got hurt. Him being injury prone has been a massive problem as he always feels like he is one of those guys that always has a push cut short because he gets hurt. Again, this isn't a recent thing. It has been going on for most of his career. Now I guess you could say the same thing about Edge, but Edge was at least good! I missed Edge whenever he was off TV.
I don't think I can think of anybody that got as many chances as he did to get over. It really is one of the most peculiar cases in wrestling history.
Now when you look at Mark Henry's career, he was on the same roster as The Rock, The Undertaker, Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Edge, Randy Orton, Mick Foley, The Big Show (he wasn't even the only big guy around!), Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Kane, & CM Punk, all while they were in their primes. Not to mention the roster of guys he was surrounded with like Carlito, Shelton Bejamin, Christian, and various others that had potential but didn't that big push in the end for one reason or another. Would you push Henry over those guys? Hell the only reason he got a World Title run in the first place is because there are two World Titles and that doubles the amount of World Title spots.
