CM Punk every week, at first continues to get huge face pops and reactions and has the hard tasks of going out there and cutting two promos at once.

Im a big Punk mak but his promo tonight was pretty poor (good job he backed it up with a great solid match). He was just using some lame sophomoric lines but it is kind of hard to progress a story line when your rival isn't there.

PROMO 1 = Personal cheap insults to the crowd/city to enable him to get heel heat as to remind the crowd he is heel as they are intent on giving him a face reaction.

PROMO 2 = The main point a and development of the story line.

He does this perfectly, but I do feel this is why some people find him repetitive because every week he has to remind these guys he is a heel. It isn't that he is a bad heel because frankly he is one of the top heels of all time but he is so popular that he is every week having to go over old ground.

And then the crowd chanted his name during the Y2J/Punk match.
This heel run reminds me of Austin's heel run. The crowds want to cheer him, so he insults them. Then he gets dead heat because they want to cheer them but they are too offended to to do so.

Got to agree.

It doesn't help that the guy he is feuding with isn't there, it kind of makes it difficult to progress the feud any where. Especially when it is two/three weeks away.

They can turn him face without ruining the character. Just tone down the crowd bashing and put him against a heel.
I've always loved heel Punk, but this run is terrible. He's struggling to get heat when everyone just wants to cheer him. A good heel should not have to call everyone "fat and poor" everyweek to get heat.

That is just all out wrong.
He is one of the greatest heels of all time and he has pulled of some amazing heel moments over the past year. The problem now it seems is that the crowd have enjoyed his heel run but want him back as face again.

I don't think there was much point to him opening the show. Liked his Paul Giamatti theory though heh. Punk is dynamite on the mic most of the time but tonight he was just going through the motions.

It's hard to hate the heels when most of the faces suck balls. Punk is doing as good a job as he can but he is just too likeable as a character to get the whole crowd booing him, even against The Rock, of all people.
