Historically, how often is the WWE Championship defended on the RTWM though? The show will be fine. The business will survive, and you will have John Cena as your full time WWE Champion starting April 7. As for right now, WWE isn't going to die with Rock who is part-time and who is btw going to be in the media promoting three big movies (Snitch, GI Joe, Pain & Gain) as WWE Champion.

I wouldn't hold my breath for it, it would be nice if it happened but I didn't expect any more than seeing Lesnar every three weeks tbh. It will most likely be Heyman carrying 80% of the feud while Brock is away or makes some taped promos/backstage segments.

I understand that The Rock will be bringing media coverage and buyrates, but that's all short term. I'm thinking long term. In hindsight when people are discussing how prestigious the WWE championship is. . . When it's mentioned someone came in part-time, won the belt, then took a vacation. And the belt was seen periodically for the next few weeks until he predictably lost it in a match we all saw coming a mile away.

so what if he missed 4 shows physically (2/4, 2/25, 3/11, 3/18). big whoop. people forget this man is very busy. ans has movies to advertise & make and has his own show to film
People don't realize him with that belt is great publicity for WWE.

McMahon isn't concerned with any of that. Only hardcore wrestling fans think about those things (honestly, as a fan I would like to see what you're talking about but it's not happening realistically). Vince is about what is making money right now and I believe it is a dream come true for him to have a crossover superstar with one foot in Hollywood and the other in a WWE ring as its Champion. It's about more exposure, more eyeballs on the product right now, and generating bigger business during WrestleMania season when they have the opportunity to do it.

Well he hasn't exactly worked 'too' hard. He didn't have to toil away in the Indys, his father and Pat Patterson got him straight into the WWF. He had a good 6-7 years (There are plenty of guys who have put in 20+ years in the industry (And of course, your "Ric Flairs" with 40+).

And on top of all that, he's stepping on a lot of toes for guys that are currently working their asses off by just coming in and taking the spotlight. I'm pretty sure The Rock would have hated it if WWF had Hogan walking around hogging the spotlight while he was still a mid-carder pulling his weight.

Tee whole "He earned this" angle. IMHO it's all relative. I could name hundreds of guys who 'earned' or even 'deserved but never got the recognition'. The Rock would be extremely low on that list. 7 year career handed to him, cut short for a stint in hollywood. . . Yeah.

You give a part-timer the title -fine! But for God's sake, he needs to defend it! What are they going to have him defend it thrice in 3 months only at PPVs?
I donīt see the problem in that to be honest. It could give more prestige to it.

Punk (And everyone else) defended the title weekly (daily if you count house shows). The Rock on the other hand, may be defending monthly.
Nobody cares about worthless house shows, and how many times has the championship changed hands on a Raw in the last few years?
