I tried to like this guy, and I guess I appreciate his work in the ring. However, there are better workers in the WWE than Ziggler. One of them is in the Shield, and Daniel Bryan is another that comes to mind. He has zero charisma, and I can't believe people think that this man should have been given the figure four. He sounds like a teen aged boy, and forgot to give Billy Gun his "look" back. I can't stand Cena, but in no way should he have worked with that nobody of a star Dolph Ziggler. Is there potential for Ziggler as a "face"? Possibly, but right now I know that is easily the most overrated talent on the roster that is in the position that they are in right now. The man is the MITB holder, and it means nothing right now.
Ziggler is the 2nd best worker (not counting Jericho) on the roster. Do you not know what charisma is? Clearly you don't because Ziggler shows it when he's showing off.
Ziggler has zero charisma. He is drawing ratings when he is on? Nope. He has nothing other than being given the opportunities to feud with stars like Cena, and win the MITB. Ziggler is the second best worker on the roster? Right. Where did you come up with that?
Take aside you're personal opinion, it's a fact that Ziggler is a great wrestler. He knows how to sell his matches. That's why people love Ziggler. Nobody was originally running to the guy because he was great on the stick or anything.
by the way, Jeff Hardy's mic work as a heel was better than roughly 80% of what Ziggler has produced in his entire heel run which has been his whole career.
I too can't seem to get into Ziggler as legitimate main event material no matter how hard I try.
However I remember feeling the same way about Triple H back in 97 and 98 and look how he turned out.
Fact is, he has some work to do to become a true draw as world champ, but ultimately, he reminds me of Jeff Jarrett of WCW, a guy who has the talent, but is midcarder for life unless he's pushed to the moon by the powers that be.
Yeah but Triple H had a cool name, not Dolph Ziggler, ew.
That is another problem with WWE superstars nowadays. They will never get over with names like that.
Ziggler can sell his ass off. He may not be the greatest on the mic but he's getting better. He makes anyone he works with look 10x better with his outrageous sells tbh.
He may look like Billy Gunn the 2nd, but I like him
Anytime a potential world champ is paired up with a female manager, they're assuming he needs said hot girl to help him draw.
To add a body guard, ala a mercenary, they're just assuming he needs one of those to draw as well.
Ziggler had Vicki, he has AJ and E, he has always had someone by his side. But, that doesn't take away his wrestling talent and the fact that he can sell like no other, a modern day Mr. Perfect in that department.
Whether or not Ziggler can do it on his own without a manager or stable is yet to be seen, but at the moment, I see Ziggz as more of a guy who would be totally over with the TNA audience as world champ, but a step behind in terms of main event material (think Jarrett or Mr. Kennedy) in the big leagues.
But like I said, I'm not the greatest judge of these things as I assumed the same with Triple H back in the 90's and he turned out to be a 197 time champion, so there ya go.
Mr. Kennedy is one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen no way would I compare Ziggler to him. HHH pre Steph and pre roids was never going to be a legend so you weren't exactly wrong on that one. I imagine if Vince had another daughter Dolph could hook up with after gaining 20 lbs of roid muscle he'd become an all time great as well.
Cesaro is untouchable in the ring right now he's still figuring out his character, but dude is on fire as an in ring performer. Sheamus is another guy with a lame character, but is pretty great in ring I wouldn't say overrated as much as miss used. Del Rio looks great as a baby face, takes just as big of bumps as Ziggler, and has much better offense. Plus Ricardo > AJ.
Big Show is underrated everything the guy does is at least solid. Rhodes and Sandow could be great the tag division just lacks depth too early to judge them imo. Barrett has lost all momentum' Bo Dallas lol. Miz is great at eveything..... jk Miz is the drizzling s#its in all aspects of pro wrestling.
I need to see a proper babyface run from Ziggler before I say he's overrated. I think he needs to get some better offense, but I could see fans rallying behind him afer he takes some epic butt whoppings.
Ziggler is barely above 0% in terms of charisma. Anyone can verbally suck their own dick and shake their ass or copy Flair's strut walk. All of his attempts just come off so forced. It's like Lance Storm after Austin buried him. He came out to some cheesy techno music and started jumping around like a cheerleader but it felt so forced and fake. I wouldn't put Ziggler in the same position as Storm with charisma but he's only a notch above which isn't saying much.
He's got good ring skills, athleticism and can bump like no one else but that's all he has going for him. Maybe like Del Rio, he can turn it around a notch with a face turn so I wont say I'm completely dismissing him. Although he's still overrated.
Clearly I know more than you do. I mean it's so obvious. Ziggler just doesn't have "it". Just because Nash thinks he is the future of the business doesn't mean jack shit, jack. He is mid card for life, and his first WHC reign proves he is not main event material.
In the ring he's great, although there are better workers than him IMO. But whenever he cuts a promo, it seems like he's trying too hard, he is more than passable at times, but theres other times when he doesn't sound at all believable and way off, like tonight.
Yes, he is a better worker than Ziggler in the ring. Tyson is one of the best workers on the planet he like Ziggler also has no charisma. Although I would say Ziggler has a bit more of a personality than Kidd does. However Kidd is the far better ring worker. He can do all styles, while Ziggler can't
He does house shows, Main Event, NXT, Superstars, Saturday Morning Slam etc. Ziggler doesn't count worth anything either. He is the MITB holder, and not a damn person cares. He feuded with Cena, and nobody cared. They brought Jericho back to feud with him, and still no one cares. I realize Tyson Kidd isn't on Raw, or Smackdown like Ziggler. Hence the whole point of my thread. Ziggler is overrated because he is hardly more entertaining than Tyson Kidd. Neither man has much charisma, but the difference is only one can be on tv more than the other. Next.
Using ratings as an argument just devalued all of the opinions that you have been spouting off. At least come up with your own arguments to back up your opinion of Ziggler instead of resorting to what ratings marks spew every day because they cannot come up with their own arguments.
People aren't tuning in to see him is my point. No one cares if Ziggler isn't on Raw for the next month. Ratings won't decline, nor will they dramatically increase. Get over yourself.
I don't know if Ziggler is overrated, but I do see him as something of an underachiver. If was in WCW back in the day, I kind of feel like he'd be one of the nobobies standing around while Hogan gave his stock promo, in that sense, he is on the Mr. Perfect track, maybe?
Oh jesus. When will people learn the difference between selling and bumping. He's a great BUMPER. He's average at SELLING. Just because he BUMPS well and pointlessly kills himself for a clothesline, doesn't make him a good worker. He's average at best, has very little character other than "typical cocky heel" and isn't anything groundbreaking on the mic.
Is he a solid worker, yes. Is he overrated, hugely. I'd struggle to put him in the top 10 workers of the company;
Cena, Cesaro, Bryan, Punk, Henry, Big Show, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, possibly Alberto Del Rio, possibly Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (based on their indy work and FCW work). All of whom are much more captivating workers and stand out a hell of a lot more than Ziggler. As soon as Ziggler learns how to work an interesting control period of a match, then I'd consider him, but he's just so bland and boring when in control it frustrates me. Turning him face, may solve the problem, but there's far too many faces at the minute.
Great bumper? What??? What does that even mean? Selling is either making the opponents move look devastating or selling an injury. I.e ziggler takes a brogue kick, and sells the move as a devastating finisher with his theatrics. Even cena has admitted that ziggler is one of the best workers he's ever worked with, half those people in your list aren't even good workers forget being better than ziggler. HBK back in the attitude era when he started his heel run was considered a 'cocky heel' and look how he evolved. Ziggler character will evolve too with time, just like all top stars have done. He might not be groundbreaking on the mic but he only recently has started to get mic time. CM punk was not dropping pipe bombs as soon as he started wwe...
For starters lets go with Bray Wyatt who is currently in NXT. Wyatt is a far better heel, and character than Ziggler ever will be. Granted he may not be on the main roster, but his talent is superior to Dolph's.
Damien Sandow shits better promos than Ziggler. He has more appeal than Ziggler as well. Everything about Damien stands out as original for those who can't remember The Genius. Ziggler is Billy Gunn 50lbs lighter, and 75% less talented.
How about Daniel Bryan? This guy is doing everything right with his character, and he is one of the best in the ring. Ziggler couldn't hold his boots if he wanted to. Yet, Ziggler is fucking around pretending to be a MITB show off. Bryan would make a better MITB winner, oh wait he was.
