Re: Rock convinces me that Austin should Never..Ever.wrestle again.....
As much as I wanna see Austin wrestle again, I damn sure don't wanna see him make a fool of himself. If he can't perform at least at 1998 level (although 2001 level was his best), then screw it.

If you think he's a shell of his former self you're smoking crack. His match at the Rumble was a very old school story telling style of a match, and I loved every minute of it.

Come on, man. Rock isn't anywhere near his prime form.

The man can barely walk his knees are so bad. It would be a disaster of a match.

Re: Rock convinces me that Austin should Never..Ever.wrestle again.....
It's two completely different situations and styles. Austin is not the type of athlete Rock is, and he has knee problems along with being close to 50 now. He's never putting on the type of physical 30 minutes performances Rock put on in the last two years. A decent brawl? Sure but not a WM main event match(I would love to see him come back either way). I don't know what Rock convinced the OP but I think he forgot that this is 2013, not 2001. And Rock is 40, not 27 wrestling on a weekly basis. Rock put on two MOTYC with Cena and Punk in the last year(You might not like them, the majority of every type of fanbase did). The fact that he even worked 30 minutes after a decade on this caliber is unheard of and something only a rare pure athlete with the ambition and passion for the industry like him could perform. Let alone putting on an emotional roller coaster matches with every fan in the audience on the edge of his seat counting spot after spot. Hell, the huge pop Rock got after the Sharpshooter says it all. You got awesome exchanges like the Sharpshooter/Vice/roll up etc. And Rock's selling and storytelling is still second to none. Is Rock as smooth as he was during his full time career? No, but nobody is today. He's still a tremendous worker and the absolute best at what he does which is create genuine emotion and make every single person in that arena follow every move in anticipation.

@TheRock wrestling the amount of time that he did in a show closing performance considering his lack of in ring time over the past several months was pretty amazing. Ring rust only is removed inside the ring and Rock showed his natural athletic skills and his desire to be the best in the long, physical match with Punk.

Regarding the match. Considering there's a rematch in 3 weeks I can see why they didn't make this a finisher fest. Save that for the clean match.
As for his return. Rock's not a professional wrestler anymore. His body is definitely more ripped but it's a the expense of his cardio. No too mention age and ring rust. Just got to live with it. Quit being a wrestling clinic freak and enjoy the show. You have to be sh*tting yourself if you think the quality of he product would be better without the Rock. Same goes with Austin.

Well said. I would say The Rock is overachieving given his age and how long it's been since he's last wrestled. The thing that was missing from the Punk match was the energy from the crowd. There was some good reaction in that match but not enough. The energy from the crowd during the Cena/Rock match was one of the main reasons why that match was great.
Even though we know Austin isn't in 2003 form, he'd still be able to put on a great match in a Wrestlemania just from the energy and crowd alone. It doesn't need to be a wrestling masterpiece. It'd still be a great match if he ever wrestled again. If Ric Flair can put on a great match at 50, so can Austin, or The Rock.

Re: Rock convinces me that Austin should Never..Ever.wrestle again.....
Austin has no reason to be back in wrestling.
Rock is relevant since he is huge in Hollywood.Austin is not even going to be relevant.
I get the point OP is making.I saw Rock at his peak but now even though he may draw ratings,he is a pale shadow of his former self.Ditto with Austin too.

Hulk Hogan on CM Punk-I think CM PUNK has stepped up and proved he can hold his own with anybody in the ring and anybody on the mic,he's on a roll. HH
My favourite wrestlers:
1.Stone Cold Steve Austin
2.HHH
3.CM Punk
4.Brock Lesnar
5.The Rock
