But look, here's the deal. I'm not gonna freak out over it, because it's painfully obvious what it is. Antonio Cesaro had the EXACT same match with Justin Gabriel, where he lost to a guy who was completely beneath him. They just needed a title match they haven't done a billion times, he's out of challengers, he'll beat Dallas on the PPV when it counts and that'll be it.

He had Gabriel though, this guy is supposedly rated pretty high and this was his debut, when rookies kind of get pushed pretty well. If Barrett drops the title to him, then moves on to the World title picture then fine, but that's highly unlikely.
I'm sure management likes him, but I don't see him winning a title on the main roster only a couple weeks after he debuts, when it took people like Cesaro 3 or 4 months. Barrett only just won the title on top of that. Maybe Dallas beats him for it at WrestleMania, but he'll lose it at the EC.

I dont think WWE has lost faith in Barrett but are using him to give a younger guy exposure. WWE must think Bo Dallas might have a future but he is still only 22 so they will introduce him to the wider WWE audience with Barrett. There will be a few matches and it will be over and Dallas will either move on to a mid to low card spot or even back to NXT and Barrett will move on to a better match up.
