Is Punk's heel stuff getting old?

I hate to say it, but I'm getting slightly tired of Punk's heel routine. It just seems like every week it's the same thing... music hits, walks out to the ring with Heyman holding the title, cuts a promo about injustice/how much the crowd sucks, and leaves...

They need to find other heel activities and things for Punk to get caught up in. How about some back stage attacks, or hitting someone with your car, or breaking some bones? ANYTHING!

They really need to find some new stuff for Punk to do.

Re: Is Punk's heel stuff getting old?

I'll take his "Respect" heel work over whatever you call him doing when he was a face last year. I do agree that WWE could add more variety in their writing not only for Punk but most of their character progression on the roster from week to week.

Little bit. This monday was just a regurgitation of everything he'd said the past weeks, and it really showed. Thankfully, there's a genuine threat to his championship reign on the horizon, and that'll make sure to change his material up.

Re: Is Punk's heel stuff getting old?

No not at all.
The good thing about Punk is just as its about to get borring he changes him gimmick and evolves.
His current Best In The World / held the title for ___ days will end when his title reign ends and he will move on to his next gimmick and feud.

If he is annoying you with it then it is deliberate because he is heel and that is what he is meant to do.

CM Punks current gimmick has been developing for about 4/5 months and was all to get him heat and get people to hate him so much that they want him to lose the title.

Sheamus and Orton are so much more borring.

- Machoman Randy Savage - Bret Hart -Stone Cold Steve Austin -The Undertaker - Shawn Michaels - Chris Jericho - CM Punk - Bret Hart - Jimmy Snuka - Ricky Steamboat - Rowdy Riper - Scott Hall - Edge - Christian - Kurt Angle - Brock Lesnar - Bam Bam Bigelow - Yokozuna - William Regal -

- Paul Heyman - Paul Bearer - Jim Cornette - Vince McMahon - Jim Ross -

Re: Is Punk's heel stuff getting old?

I'm enjoying it. He seems to have gone form the obnoxious heel champion who wants respect and has become a much more darker and driven character now that the Rock has returned. Let's face it, there wasn't a whole lot to work with when he was feuding with Ryback. Also it's good for annoying the crowd, heels gonna heel.

Re: Is Punk's heel stuff getting old?

Punk should never have turned heel.
His heel turn was the result of some of the worst booking I have ever seen in my 10+ years as a wrestling fan.

Punk, the face, has an antagonistic GM in AJ Lee putting him in obviously skewed matches. Punk is a bad guy for calling her out?
Actually, let's go further into this - why was AJ a face for so long?
She was fucking around with Kane, Bryan and Punk - Punk, the Champion of the company. And yet we're supposed to clap and cheer when she gets rewarded for this slutty behaviour with the GM spot?

Her character makes zero sense. And I think her involvement with Punk caused his current dip into a very mediocre heel run.

The reason I say it is mediocre is simply because of how over he was as a face. WWE does not have an abundance of bankable good guys, Punk was one and they turn him Heel. All to push AJ.
Bullshit.

Re: Is Punk's heel stuff getting old?

I wouldn't say it's getting 'old', but there's two factors here. He's being given mic time more or less every week, and there's only so much you can say to keep it fresh. Thankfully ever since the start of the programme with The Rock, Punk has upped his game to high standards once again.

"Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango!"

Nope, WAY better than him being a face. His face work was god awful, hell id rather see face Orton instead of face punk.

Top 10 all time favorites:

Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels
Chris Jericho
Brock Lesnar
Kurt Angle
HHH
Edge
CM Punk
Kane (98-04)

that summerslam tweener face was pretty great, he should've stay that way instead of going full on heel by insulting the crowd for cheap heat
