How is Punk supposed to have a face run? Even when he works as a face they switch him heel. He doesn't even feel like a heel to me right now.

I always thought Jericho was vastly overrated, so yeah, I don't have a problem with this. His best work came as a comedy mid-heel in WCW.

More 5 star performances
Jericho had way more 4 star matches, dozens more of them. Plus Punk's only real 5 star match was MITB where Cena masterfully carried his botching ass in a 30 minute wrestling clinic. Cena schooled him that night. Punk-Joe 2 was 4 star at best and I'd watched about 3 times.

More legendary promo's
Jericho's 1999-2000 promo catalogue alone pretty much shits on Punk whole mic output.

Is actually a top star
Being the midcardest world champion in wrestling history doesn't qualify you as a top star.

More over than Jericho (MITB 11)
Y2J had 52 louder ovations in 2000 alone than what Punk got at MITB 2011. Even during Jericho's first few weeks at WWE in late 99, he was more over than Punk ever was.
Quote:
Looked more credible jobbing to HHH than Jericho
Jericho got to pin HHH though. Plus matches between them actually had the feel of 2 warriors who were tearing each other out for real. Punk-HHH at NOC 2011 looked like a father and son having a backyard play around.

Credibility-wise, easily. Jericho was one of those guys much like Kane, Benoit, and I imagine Daniel Bryan will probably be, who was credible enough thanks to his talent that he could float around the card regardless of where he needed to be and still maintain credibility. He could job to a midcarder to help get a title over one week and go over a main eventer the next week and people would buy it. Credibility-wise he was never at the top but right below it, and would be used to repair the midcard and tag team division as needed, and also provide filler feuds for the top stars.

CM Punk is obviously above that, and is a top star in his own right. Talent-wise I'd say they're close, but I prefer Punk.

Not too sure if I agree with matches though. If we're just talking WWE, I'm pretty sure I've enjoyed Jericho's matches overall more than Punk's. I'm not saying Punk doesn't have a good resume of matches (especially if we count pre-WWE) but Jericho's I'd still say is better.

Jericho also has about 1 trillion people escaping from the Walls of Jericho and never hitting the Lionsault.

Here's the thing that I always see being a problem. In that moment MITB 2011 was way and above a 5 star match. It was special. In retrospect, it suffers from being very 'in the moment'. Jericho has had more matches that I can sit and watch without even caring about the ongoing feud or storyline.

CM Punk rose to the top when there was only one man in the way. Jericho became the champion, regardless of how short lived it was, when The Rock, Stone Cold, HHH, Kurt Angle and Big Show were guys who were realistically in the title picture.

They've both had similar careers but Jericho was never the number 2 guy in the company.

Also, Jericho's Debut is a much bigger moment than Punk's 'Pipebomb'.

Jericho's debut is nowhere near the pipe bomb. One was the rise of a star the other was the burial of one lol
