Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?
Considering the only thing that's been the least bit impressive and memorable about Punk's reign has been the length, and Bruno's was about 5 times longer, no. Plus, Bruno had legendary competition-Gene Kiniski, Killer Kowalski, The Sheik, Freddie Blassie, Curtis Iaukea, George The Animal Steele, Ivan Koloff, Stan Stasiak, Superstar Billy Graham, Bruiser Brody, Nikolai Volkoff, Professor Toru Tanaka, Gorilla Monsoon, Stan Hansen...those are some of the biggest names in wrestling history.
Who has Punk faced? Daniel Bryan...Ryback...Ziggler...none of those guys can hold a candle to these legends.

Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?
I know people talked about sell out shows and title lengths and stuff like that but...
I BARELY know who Bruno Sammartino is. Sammartino initially retired in 1981, 6 years before I was even born. Bruno Sammartino had his last "return from retirement" match when I was in the womb.
Nobody under 40 knows who the fuck Bruno Sammartino is. Period.
There is pre-Hogan and post-Hogan. Post-Hogan matters. Pre-Hogan is a trivia question.

Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?
Yeah this is a stupid comparison and it just proves everybody who just falls for everything Punk says is still a mark and he's working you. Dumb fucks lol BITW......he's a heel so he is going to put himself before everyone. Punk actually respects the history he just doesn't kiss it's ass. I'm sure, if their reigns were as long as Punk's, HHH, JBL, Edge, etc all would have said the same fucking thing. CM Punk promo style just goes over people's heads sometimes but to do it to the so called smarks lol he's fucking genius

I'm not going to touch on the entire question, just Punk's reign. I was so excited when he won the belt from Cena. The MITB wins were good, but I like the title exchanging from matches, that's my old school mentality. As much as it pains me, the title has a history of being given to the best draws, with Bret Hart probably being the example of phenomenal talent overshadowing mic work and character develop. Anyways, if Punk drops the belt to Rock or Cena, that's business. I can't have the WWE the way I want it, that's why I watch a lot of Indy wrestling. What would make me happy, and I saw it mentioned above, is Punk bringing credibility to the IC title. Imagine the wrestlers most of us like - Punk, Bryan, Ziggler, Rhodes...that could be the pure wrestling title. Based on talent and match quality. The monsters or draws can have the WWE Championship. Thoughts?

Never, watching the show is so boring
I rather watch the ratings and who draws because that is all I care about....

As I said don't let wwf revisionist history change the truth. This is exactly how Vince promoted the wwf after Bruno left the company. Coliseum Video even released in 1991 "Greatest Champions" which had Savage, Hogan, and Mr. Perfect(IC Champ) as the greatest.
Now you have to ask why did the company do this? The reason being Superstar Billy Graham and Bruno Sammartino were in the media in 1991 talking about the drugs and sex scandal in the company. It got so bad that talk shows like Phil Donahue had Vince come on their show to defend the wwf. This was during the days when Vince didn't make it public knowledge to the fan base that he was indeed the boss.
Before all of this in 1987, the wwf was proclaiming Bruno as the Living Legend and GOAT. They even released a video about the man. If anything it is pre-WM III and post WM III as after that event the wwf aesthetics changed. It was like the company was giving the old school Bruno/Superstar fans one last run in 1987 before changing wrestling forever(it is said that the night Hogan lost to Andre on NBC it all changed with that cartoonish finish which would have never been done before WM III).
So it's like saying anyone born after Steve Austin and The Rock who didn't see them in the attitude era could discredit what they brought to the business simply because they are ignorant to the history of the truth.

Which the majority of wrestling fans never found in Punk's reign of terror. Sad but true.

Just because you don't respect history doesn't mean it's irrelevant.
There's a reason why CM Punk has to mention a legend like Bruno.
And we're talking about it.

Bruno never had to rely on a low blow from the ref to win a match.
