And as champion for over a year, he deserves some of the blame placed on his shoulders.

I know Punk marks have a hard time accepting that, but it is what it is. I was in denial the very same way back in the 2011 summer when I actually found Punk entertaining and supported him.
So because Punk is part of a terrible product he's killing the business? So I take it no one should hold the championship, since they're all part of the product? John Cena and CM Punk are one and two in ratings, merchandise sales, and PPV buys. Less of them = bad. I take it HBK and Bret Hart were killing the business when it was down in between Austin and Hogan, right? No, the blame goes to the guys who aren't all-time greats, not the all-time greats who aren't AS GREAT AS Austin and Hogan.

Also, I'd say the product is pretty good right now, but the fact is ratings have fallen consistently since November '99 when Austin got his yr long back injury. Not an excuse, but it does mean that recently fallen ratings aren't themselves an indicator. Was the SD golden age of Angle/Lesnar/Taker/Guerrero/Mysterio/Benoit killing the business? Cuz ratings were falling. Were Orton and HHH killing the business when they, along with Cena, ruled Monday Night Raw? I don't think so, but I consider today's WWE to be better than those yrs (well, today's Raw at least; today's SD is kinda weak). Were Batista and Undertaker killing the business when ratings were going down?

Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?

Hogan can't be in the discussion as he defended it about once a month, IF LUCKY. Also, his matches for most of his career never went over 8 minutes.

Many compare that with Flair's 2 year NWA championship reign during that time. He defended it over 350 times a year and a LOT of them were 1 hour long matches. Edit: and would defend it traveling from territory to territory.

Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?

stop with the 'it's scripted' comments. Even when it's scripted, you have to pretty damn good to defend the title that long without the crowd getting bored as hell, calling you repetitive, etc. etc. Punk has barely had any of that, so pretty impressive.

Not Removing Until:

John Cena faces Undertaker at Wrestlemania [ ]

Sheamus and Cm Punk are the 2 World Champions [X] -Wrestlemania 28

John Morrison wins World Title [ ]

John Cena losses cleanly [X]- Wrestlemania 28 Rock Beats John Cena

John Cena turns heel [ ]

Shawn Michaels returns for One More Match[ ]

Daniel Bryan beats a Main Eventer cleanly [ ]

I'd say Hogan is in the discussion. Short matches, w/e, Rock and Triple H were never great technical wrestlers, either, but they told stories. WMania I-III (lost it soon before IV?). Come on. I mean, come on. You know? Come on.

Wrestling would be a lot different without championships I'll have you know. Championships bring a sense of accomplishment to the business. To hold the world title in particular, is an honor. Who cares about title reigns? Well who cares about wins and losses in wrestling if it's all fake. Yet you see everyday, people on here bitching about this wrestler getting buried or that wrestler always jobbing. If wrestling is all pre determined, then why should it matter who wins a match or not, just as long as they put on a good show. Yet people still get pissed off. At the end of the day, wrestling fans get emotionally invested in wrestling. When that happens, they start to care about little thing like the titles. Of course that's my theory on it. But there's not point in pointing out that wrestling is pre determined, if you can watch a wrestling match, and care what's doing on in it, even if it's pre determined then you can care about titles as well.

P.S I think you'll find, a lot of people still do remember JBL's title reign. It's actually underrated by fans on here, but the WWE championship was booked a hell of a lot better back then, then it is now.

Favorite Wrestlers Of All Time - The Undertaker, The Rock, Stone Cold, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle and Edge

Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?

I've gone back to try and watch some of Bruno's stuff... but I found him rather boring and a 7 year reign of his would have been unbearable. So by that fact alone I'd go with Punk. But that is personal preference. I just really can't stand much of Bruno's work.

And really... it was a different beast back then. Not only was the fan's understanding different, but the territory system is vastly different than the national setting today. I highly doubt Bruno would have been as big outside of the New York area just given the demographic he appealed to there.

Thanks for the wonderful memories Ultimate Warrior... happy you got to be recognised as the legend you are before you went. Rest in peace

For instance, the finish at the Elimination chamber PPV (Jericho's elimination sucked), the finish against Daniel Bryan, the finish against John Cena, the finish against Ryback (although I defended this decision first but now it seemed like a last minute and not very well thought out decision because look at Maddox now) and the finish against his recent TLC match against Ryback was just predictable and the match didn't need to happen. All these finishes just sucked. The storylines have also sucked IMO. I.e. his feuds against Kane, Bryan/AJ, Jericho and Ryback have all been stale IMO. His other feuds have been alright, not horrible or bad. Just alright. Then there is the inconsistent booking of his character. He defends his title against big name wrestlers during his face run and gets booked as a brave babyface but two weeks later in his heel run, he starts complaining about the triple threat match at Summerslam. Not to mention that he gets booked as a chicken shit heel against Ryback. I know wrestling is scripted and that we mustn't take things seriously but why should Punk be afraid of a 'newcomer' like Ryback? Look at the big names Punk has beaten and look at the opponents Ryback has beaten. I don't know, maybe I'm just reading too much on this. Then he stands up to the Rock and has a brawl against him...
I agree. Just shows why CM Punk's current title reign is not an all-time best. The longevity of the rign may open up a lot of good feuds, but most of it has been a disappointment (including Punk/Bryan). Heck, I thought Orton's 2009 reign was better.

It will all change when he faces the Rock at the Rumble. Depending on the quality of the match and no matter who wins or loses, it will elevate this reign into a whole new level.

1. I am not a Punk mark whatsoever so dont lump me in with that crowd
2. so by your logic Undertaker, HBK, Sid Vicious and Diesel were "killing the business" in 95?
3. Punk Merch and PPV buys are HIGHER than everyone elses except John Cena
I get it people out there like to whine when someone has the title for "too long" but you cant honestly say that the blame goes to Punk because WWE Creative cant
Book good MidCard Matches
Push good talent in a rational way
Keep someone face or heel for over a month
Have Interesting Raw and SD shows more than 2 weeks in a row
Keep putting guys in the ring that are OBVIOUSLY not over in the ring like Kahli V Tensi
The creation of PG entertainment Wrestling

but you are soooo right all those things are totally CM Punks Fault
Terrible Booking is killing the business in WWE AND TNA its not just one guy and especially not one of the only guys who is over as a heel in WWE.

But let me guess you one of those people who thinks Rock is gonna win the title and actually wrestle on TV full time as Champion all the way to WM and "save" WWE right?

Punk couldn't carry Bruno's jockstrap, and I am not even a fan of Bruno. Didn't like his style personally, but come on, man! The guy busted his butt to a far greater degree than modern wrestlers do.

Dude he's trolling you.

Some guy just posted Bruno's entire schedule to make an irrelevant point.

This is a total troll topic, especially since I doubt many in here are older than 30 (or that much older) and can't remember Yokozuna being champion, they don't know shit about Bruno. Bruno aint been champion since the 60s-70s man.
