I agree with repetitive matches and it's funny seeing people complain today because I am watching 97 now because NOD vs Ahmed Johnson, Triple H vs Goldust happened damn near 50 times.

Such a great year, lots of memories from that year in wrestling. Amazing to think that the same company producing the crap we see today produced so many great memories only 15 years ago.

I was at the RAW in 98 when Owen Hart beat HHH (Goldust) for the European Title. This was during the Mike Tyson build up with Stone Cold, too. I agree 98 was definitely the year of WWE (WWF)

I think you just confused 1999 with 1998.

1998 was fucking epic. I only started watching in 1995, and at the time in 1998 it felt like it was the greatest year I had seen. Looking back I still feel 1998 is the best year of wrestling I have ever seen. 1997 was also very good, and although people slag off 1999, I thought 1999 was brilliant too. Bit of a let down in PPV's but still far beyond todays product.

I also just pirated the 1998 year of WWF and I am shocked at how much better the product is than what is currently being aired. I'm almost thinking about abandoning WWE and just watching an episode from the Attitude Era every week instead.

2012 was better than 2007 and 2009 combined.

It's too early to judge 2013.

I didn't start watching til early January 2000 (so Rock pulled me in, basically), but I've see enough highlights and dled enough videos to acknowledge 1998 was the best yr ever. I'm not the biggest Austin fan, but all of Austin's moments that made ppl flip out were in 1998, between Austin vs. McMahon, his REALISTIC promos, car stunts. I don't mean to belittle the Attitude Era, but I swear 80 percent of the "unpredictability" was car stunts, and therefore believe the current era needs more of them. Also, DX was hilarious and different. Every faction makes it seem like anything can happen, they can beat up anybody and take over the show, one voice is worth the strength of five guys; but nothing compared to the jokey Triple H teaming up with the New Age Outlaws and the DX Army segments. I saw their very first promo with the Outlaws, and I swear the first time Road Dogg added his bit it showed that the members were perfect for each other, whereas most groups are one guy running the show.

Between Austin's prime and DX's shenanigans, 1998 was much better than today. I think today's product is pretty good, but 1998 was the climax. Maybe 1999, too, I don't know.

1998 was much better than 2012. Stop it.

If 2012 isn't the worst year in weekly televised WWE history, it's in the bottom 3 easily.

When the only things most people really looked forward to in a year were legends returning and how new guys panned out, you know the year sucked dick.

In 2012, WWE got a lot more boring, and a lot of it's energy just seemed to die. WWE's been spinning it's wheels in mud for months. Hopefully 2013 is actually decent.
