The Show had too many forgettable moments, I thought when the crowd had something to be invested in they were fine. Ziggler/Cena got good reactions and then the show fell flat until Punk/Ryback too which they again lost ther shit when Ryback nearly won and the crowded were invested well into that match and Punk's promo was designed to be "Anti People" so when The Rock comes out (whose going to get better reactions bar anyone but a select few) "The People's Champion" it comes of amazing.

They had waited for him all night.
I guarantee the main thing people wanted to see was The Rock and CM Punk.

Also for the reasons CM Punk stated. The fans were cheering anything he said. The Rock goes for cheap pops quite often but also does some good jokes.

And it was in his hometown.

having been around for just about every rocky promo of the attitude era. Listening to him go off on tangents that drug out for 3 minutes only to come back to a catch phrase that would shake the ground under the camera man's feet with reactions from the live crowd.. Last night was sub par Rock.

teh fuck did he tell the people to chant about punk? I don't remember the word but I remember being annoyed.

That's just one example of many.

Punk's "Pipe Bomb" was really just the s.o.s. it's saving grace was that it was Punk saying it. He's great at drawing heat from the live crowd. And giving him the extended time was actually a really smart move. But everything he said was what he's been saying and I don't like that they keep trying to sell it as something new.

Out of the Rocky/punk interaction I truly think punk was the better of the two. Rocky's charisma and look and presence were great, the words coming out of his mouth were not. "it doesn't matter if you matter" and it came out wrong to boot, emphasis all over the place, started too quick so the people couldn't chant along. His rust definitely shows.

To me it's a shame that they ended the interaction the way they did. I understand punk needs comeuppance for the gts, but dammit wait till the rumble if you're going to just have him lose anyway. It makes no sense to make the face look stronger going into a match like that. Especially when the face is the freaking rock. They should have him go in having been bested by punk at every turn so there's at least the possibility of us the fans being surprised in the slightest way come royal rumble time.
