Re: Any Rock fans cringe last night?
I honestly don't know why they would. I don't mean to take anything away from The Rock, quite the opposite in fact, but his greatest strength on the mic was never the quality of what he said, but the sheer power with which he was able to influence the audience. What he says generally does work very well, but that's not the point, the point is how utterly intoxicating his charisma is. Last night he showed that at its best. With, by his standard, fairly average material, he still managed to capture the attention and interest of the audience and drive them to emphatic support. To me that's genuinely remarkable.

I cringe at anybody who can't sit back and enjoy the most charasmatic guy the biz has ever seen do his thing, and sell a ppv in one promo. What was he supposed to do nuke Punk's cred and make him into a joke before their big match?

I was only disappointed with the crowd or maybe it got audio problems because the reaction I hear was weak for someone like The Rock.

The crowd was bored into a zombified trance by Punk's never ending promo before Rock came out. Rock had the fans back big time by the end though.

Yeah, Punk babbling for 20 minutes about everything but the Rumble match which was the purpose of the entire segment was great.

Ofcourse CM Punk put me to sleep before rocky came out but when there were going back and fourth on the mic, CM did better.

Cookie Puss for me was one of those its so bad its hilarious moments. The rest of the promo though the Rock was on fire and Punk was also excellent. Great start and could potentially destroy the rivalry Rock and Cena had last year.

True that. His crowd control has been his strongest point, when you can get the crowd chanting something like Cookie Puss in a near trance-like fashion you know you got it.

Roody Poo, Popcorn Fart, Cookie Puss....whatever.
You got older, more mature, etc. The Rock's character didn't.
