The only reason why they went TV-14 in the first place was because WCW was kicking their asses in the ratings. So they needed to change and in order to be more ruachy and over the top, they were given a TV-14 rating so they could do stuff that was controversial or otherwise geared to the older audience. Plus, in 1995 and 96 they lost a shit-load of revenue, so they needed to do something different to get it back. They HAD to change during that time period, because the PG stuff they were doing during 95/96 wasn't working to their benefit.
Either TNA needs to become competition and start to beat WWE in the ratings (which won't happen, ever). Or, they need to lose alot of revenue over the course of a few years. In 2011, they had 483 million in revenue. If say in 2013 they have 130 million, they maybe we MIGHT see a change in the product.
