Langston is another example...
Being that he is the most recent debuted developmental person the roster I figure I would start with him. I have nothing against this man, but I certainly don't think his current status right now is anything special, or worth remembering. Granted, he attacked the biggest name in the business, and? Cena is always a marked man, and I can't understand why they would just throw another surprise in the Cena/AJ angle. There are too many directions that this is going. Langston hardly made an impact, and all he does is stand around with few words to speak.
Why can't the WWE think for a change? There are so many things they could have done, but there is one in particular that would have killed two birds with one stone. For the better part of 2012 the WWE Universe unfortunately had to take on a new character, and that was lil' Jimmy. He was an imaginary character only to be seen through the eyes of R-Truth. However, what if this person was real, and in fact R-Truth was half telling the truth? Obviously when he speaks to lil' Jimmy we know that no one is there.
The idea is that R-Truth is crazy. What if R-Truth wants to confess to the WWE Universe because he hasn't been completely honest with everyone. Basically the debut of Big E Langston is based off the premise he is, or was lil' Jimmy. Langston explains that he was often called names, and picked on by everyone in the neighborhood. Langston explains that he has always respected R-Truth, and that if it weren't for R-Truth he wouldn't have made it to the WWE.
There are no real stories told in the WWE anymore. This would be a way to debut Langston, and drop the lil' Jimmy nonsense on R-Truth's part. It's a solid way to explain a "fake" relationship, but in a way that gives a history. Right now there is nothing to Langston other than standing around. Stars are appearing with no background story created for them. The WWE has been missing out on this concept for some time now. Overall I think this is something fans would have actually remembered this man for.

Re: Langston is another example...
Its pretty creative....and that's why WWE didn't think of it.
They are in love with wrestling stereotypes. One of which is being a "pretty boy/normal sized" wrestler with a bodyguard/enforcer to protect you from the "big guys".
To be honest, Cena's ether on Dolph monday totally changed my outlook on Dolph and his career. You mean to tell me this guy been in the company 7 years and you still don't trust him to feud with anyone by himself? Its not even like his character somehow calls for a bodyguard, he's just there....its dumb.

Re: Langston is another example...
that's a good idea. But Langston is not there because WWE have big plans to push him, maybe they will sometime in the future, but for now he is basically there as AJ and Ziggler's 'muscle'. Now that Ziggler is going on to become World Champion, i guess they're trying to form him a strong unit with AJ and Langston, so as a heel he seems pretty protected and credible. Langston is doing a good job at that.
Also, not to mention, we all want to see heel R-Truth, but merchandize-hungry Vince McMahon doesn't.

Geez, he's been in WWE what, a week or two and people are already putting him down? What a joke.

Awesome idea but per WWE logic, no matter how good your idea is, it will never be considered because you "are an Internet wrestling mark and know nothing about good wrestling story lines".
The WWE hardly ever invest long term into story lines. Don't expect too much from them.

I seem to remember this approach working for Diesel and HBK. They do appear to be following the HBK model with Ziggler and that's no bad thing.

Re: Langston is another example...
the only problem with big E is that he debuted as a heel not a face.
His 5 gimmick would have got him over in seconds.

Did you not read what OP wrote? This isn't a shot at Langston, it's a shot at WWE dropping the ball.

The HBK/Diesel, and indeed HBK/Sid for a short time, pairing isn't the problem, its the multitude of times the WWE has tried to copy it and the big man in question has gone basically nowhere. Still, if the formula gets heat for the guy who is meant to be the main focus, then it's job done so far as Vince is concerned.
