RAW 2006 a very underrated year
Let me start off by saying 2006 was the year that I got back into wrestling. Now being 11 years at the time, I ate everything up and enjoyed the hell out of it. Now, looking back, 2006 did bring us its fair share of crap but honestly what year hasn't? From the madness that was Vince McMahon vs Shawn Michaels and God to the never to be seen since Punjabi match, 2006 came with its crap.
But I find a lot of people hate the year 2006. So much, that in fact it 'won' the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for Worst Weekly Television Show. Why is that? Why is it that RAW in 2006 was the worst show of the year?
The one thing that stands out from the year, to me, is the feud between Edge and Cena. It is without a doubt a top 10 feud in company history. From Edge cashing in MITB, to Cena throwing him into a body of water, to Edge slapping the taste out of John Cena Sr's mouth- the feud has its moments. Not to mention its matches. Cena vs Edge at Unforgiven 2006 is a classic, imo.
Not to mention other variables such as ECW One Night Stand, RVD being involved in the main event, DX Reunion, Jeff Hardy's return, Edge/Foley and it was the year that both Trish and Lita retired within the space of one month. It was also an emotional year.
All in all, I'd say 2006 was one hell of a year that is often under appreciated.
