Default What is Going on with PTP?!

I'm sorry, but I'm about to rant here. What are the writers and the booking agents doing with The Primetime Players? They are such a rollercoaster team right now. One minute they are on a roll and are looking like they are about to win the titles and then the next thing you know, they are jobbing out to their opponents and left out of important matches. The fatal four way last night made me so mad, because they didn't even show PTP wrestle. The show comes back from commercial break and PTP had been eliminated. What?! Then what makes matters worse is that they don't even have a match at the PPV, when they could've had a chance to win the titles.
What happened to Punk is unfortunate, but that should not have changed the matches much. As a matter of fact, I don't even mind the 6-man tag, but the Number 1 Contender's Tag Team Match should have been a Fatal Four Way Tables Match between Rey/Sin, Rhodes Scholars, PTP, and either the Usos, Primo/Epico, or Kidd/Gabriel. I think this type of match would have elevated PTP's(especially Darren Young's)in ring ability and possibly given them a legit push if they had a good match at the PPV. I could see Mr. No Days Off doing his finisher off of a turnbuckle into a table or I could see him taking some nasty bumps or being a spot monkey to make a move look devastating, therefore making the match look good. I could see Titus, even though not very good in the ring, powerbombing someone into a table.
Some of the best tag teams like Hardy Boyz, E&C, Dudley Boyz, NAO etc. didn't become tag team staples in WWE by being booked the way PTP are being booked and I mention them because I think they have the potential to be one of the biggest and most marketable tag teams today. They have the look, charisma, personalities, marketability, and in-ring ability to become very popular, but the only thing they are missing is a huge match that will elevate them to that great tag team status. Out of all of the matches that took place at the Summerslam 2000 PPV, I will always consider the Triple Threat TLC Match between Hardy Boyz, E&C, and the Dudley Boyz the best.

Start and stop pushes that WWE has been famous for over the last five years. They do it to the entire mid-card and then wonder why nobody is over.

TBH, Prime Time Players were already heading nowhere when AW got released.

This is my problem. Triple H was around during the late 90s/early 2000s era when tag team wrestling/titles meant as much to the shows and PPVs just as much as the WWE Championship titles meant. I would think if he is trying to build up the tag team division, he would know what it takes to be successful at it by looking at the teams of the past, but the way the teams are booked, it doesn't look like it. More importantly, some of the biggest stars came out of the tag team division like Jeff Hardy and Edge. Those two became stars after they left tag team wrestling, but they were given time to get themselves over by proving it in a tag team first. I think out of the legit tag teams today(Rhodes Scholars, PTP, and maybe Gabriel/Kidd), there are legit stars that can be made out of these guys, but they need mic/promo time, ring time, and good consistent booking to get themselves over.

They hit a wall after SS, they should have won then and after that Hell No, Rhodes Scholars and The Luchadores sprung up, maybe they're a more traditional team but the others were more over.

It's a shame, everything sort of conspired against them and now they're glorified jobbers.

I think the Prime Time players are just being overshadowed at the moment with Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio and Rhodes Scholars being the focus for the number one contenders spot for the tag titles. Both teams are made of primarily singles stars, but all 4 of them are more over and play a larger role in making the product than Young and O'Neil, especially Mysterio and Cody Rhodes. Damien Sandow is a superstar I think WWE are high on, and if he were a singles guy he would be no doubt built up for an IC title reign in the near future. Sin Cara is just there, but he has been improving lately with Mysterio and I think they want him to be the next Mysterio so to speak for the kiddies. What I am trying to say is that the general fan is more likely to know who these 4 guys are rather than the PTPs and I think if WWE want to make the tag division relevant, it needs to be led by guys the casuals know, so I think these 2 teams are the teams that need to be showcased and lead the division.

Then you have Hell No who are MUCH more believable and deserving (two former world champs) as tag champs than PTP, and they are feuding with the Shield, who are one of the hottest entities in the company, who may themselves be in the title picture in the future (freebird rule perhaps?). Hell No's entertainment factor is priceles!!

I just think there are too many strong tag teams in the WWE at the moment that are more legit than the PTP's that they are being rightfully overlooked by the higher ups. They had their time with Kofi and Truth, but failed to win the titles. If they didn't win them when they were hot with AW, I can't see them winning them after being irrevelant for the last few months, ever since Kane and Bryan beat them for the number one contender spot back in September.

The fact you've suggested Darren Young doing his finisher from the turnbuckle through a table, meaning that nothing would actually happen to his opponent but simply putting himself through a table, negates any sensible point you may have made.

I'd rather have The Uso's being pushed anyway.
