I'm not going to argue with you. Punk is injured now. Has already said he would retire soon (within a few years I believe was his exact words). All we have to do is wait & see. I think time will tell & I think I will be proven right. He's definitely taking a back seat on the road to Wrestlemania to the usual suspects (Cena, Rock, Taker, maybe HHH or Brock). With that many guys ahead of him, what does that make him? MIDCARD.

It's not like WWE are going to reward him for being the worst drawing champion in fifteen years. At least from a ratings perspective. For his sake, I sure hope he's moving a lot of merchandise (although as a heel, that's hard to believe).

Point is everyone has selective memory and there was shit/great storyline feuds and shit/great wrestlers in every era.
Right now the iwc has had cm punk champion for over a year, he has had quality feuds with other iwc favs like daniel bryan, we have had the rock and lesnar come back, the tag team division is starting to gather momentum, and cena hasn't been champion in ages......and guess what everyone still whinges. That is the typical "iwc-emo" outlook. Feel sorry for those that are like this to be honest.
That's BS. Sure, there was a small minority of people who said stuff like that but don't act like it was as common as it is today.

There's flashes of awesomeness but in no way would i say the overall product is good.

Re: Am I the Only One That Thinks the Product is Good Right Now?

I don't think its as bad as everyone says it is. And I don't think its amazing either. I tend to mostly watch WM Season and up until Summer Slam and quit watching for football season.

I do think there are plenty of positives for the short term and long term. There's a tremendous amount of young talent that will carry the WWE for years to come. When I look long term I see Sheamus, Barrett, Ryback, Ambrose, Miz, Reigns, and Sandow as your Main Event Stars. I'm unsure who exactly would be the "FACE" of this group just yet. Maybe there doesn't need to be one. Hopefully at the WM in 2014 you see a title unification which starts the new era.

For the short term I see all of those guys getting built up for the 2014 and beyond Era. I like the resurgence of the Tag Team Division. It actually seems like the mid card is starting to be better right now with Ceasaro and Miz & others leading the way.

Is the overall product that great. Naw its not, but I'm at least starting to see some semblance of a plan being put together. I think this upcoming WM season will be one you'll never forget.

The product it's fucking awesome... if you repeat it to yourself numerous times, it will become true.

The reason why we don't get fresh ideas and promotions rising in American Pro Wrestling is because the majority of the community is happy with the same old shit and will reject any chance of change. There is a risk in doing new things, 9 times out of 10, it leads to 50+ pages of bitching and moaning. While business gets turned into a dictatorship and more and more out of touch. Support the indies, support New Pro Wrestling.

Re: Am I the Only One That Thinks the Product is Good Right Now?

I don't think the overall product is terrible right now but lazy writing is pretty evident in a lot of shows. Vince changing and re-writing things even while the show is going on has to put a lot of stress on creative but at the same time it can't be that difficult to move stories along in a logical progression. There isn't going to be and really shouldn't be a major twist in every episode but just moving angles along in a way that makes sense from week to week would be a huge help.

As for not being able to build stars or not having any, I don't buy that. Ryback is going to be a major player in 2013 whether people like him or not and he's following in the mold of a guy like Cena that was pushed incessantly until he just became a main event fixture that was widely accepted. There are plenty of guys that could be stars but Vince seems to have a short leash with most of them (aside from Del Rio and Sheamus) so of course people aren't going to go nuts for them.

This roster has a lot of talent and there's even more waiting in NXT but creative being hesitant to do anything substantial with most characters is holding them back. Take Danielson for example. The guy was over as hell as WHC and during his WWE title feud with Punk but instead of keeping him going strong against main eventers like Orton and Cena he gets lumped into a comedy tag team. I'm not saying that the beginning of THN wasn't great because it was but what is being the whiny, slightly feminine half of a team really doing for his character progression? I could go on and on about stop and start pushes for guys like Rhodes, Ziggler, and Barrett but you get my point.

The only thing i really can get into atm in WWE is the Shield storyline. Everything else is absolutely tits up horrible.

Pretty much this. The difference back then compared to now is EVERY guy who were under 30 was a fan of the product.

Remembered many of my uncles who were already in their late 20's/early 30's were huge fans and as much as in-tuned to the storylines as me and my cousins were.

Re: Am I the Only One That Thinks the Product is Good Right Now?

I love the current product. I know I must be because whenever I buy the WWE Video game in Fall it's usually because I'm "feeling" the product. So I bought WWE 13.

Here's what I love about the current WWE product:

New Stars: Sandow and Cesaro (who I hated at first but now love because he is the best wrestler in the WWE)

Pushing of Talent: I love what they are doing with the Miz's face turn, Barrett's push, Kofi's title reign, and the push of Ziggler

Hating CM Punk: I love HATING CM Punk. I don't like him on/off camera, but I enjoy hating him. I can't wait for The Rock to take his title and that's not a knock on Punk because he's doing his job as a hated heel.

Cena/Orton: I'm a big fan of both of them but even I have to admit they needed a break from the title. Neither man has held the title since the Fall of 2011. Both deserve to be in the main events of WM 29.

AJ Lee: I love AJ and I love that she moved up the ladder in terms of storylines. I always thought she was above working Daniel Bryan and now she's working with Cena -- that's upward mobility!
