Should the IC & US title be combined into the "Universal Title"
 

Ok so in my previous thread I brought up the Hardcore title and everyone seems to believe since its the PG era the hardcore title won't work. So I though ok lets combine the US and IC titles and defend the new title 24/7. This way its not the hardcore title but it could be the "Universal Title" that is defended 24/7 so that would add action and humor to the title and not be required to be hardcore. Opinions?

That's silly. Simply merge the two and keep the IC title the same way they merged them in 2001.

If it's got a 24/7 rule then it's the Hardcore Championship. You can't beat someone up backstage and pin them in a regular match. Anyway, I'd rather them combine the WWE & World Heavywight Championships before doing anything with the lower-tier belts.

I really don't care what the title is called but what do you think about the 24/7 concept?

It wouldn't work for a title such as the IC title. The belt already means shit now. Adding a 24/7 rule would make things a million times worse. It would become a comedy prop.

I'm all for merging the IC and US titles (as well as the WWE and WHC), but I'd say the 24/7 rule is only appropriate for the Hardcore Championship.

I think they should have the following titles:
Undisputed WWE Heavyweight Championship
Intercontinental Championship
Womens Championship
Cruiserwight / Light Heavyweight Championship
Hardcore Championship (with or without 24/7 rule, I like both)
(edit: Plus, of course, the tag titles.)

I can see them maybe merging IC and US, but as long as they have two seperate house show rosters, I don't think they would merge the main titles.

I'm all for scrapping the US title and only having the IC title. I don't like the 24/7 rule at all and it only makes sense for a HC title anyway.

And then they can combine the Universal Title and the WWE Title, giving us what we really want: the WWE Universe Title.

Imo there would be no point in merging the midcard belts if they aren't going to merge the World Titles.

If Cena can main event without sniffing the title picture, they don't need two World Titles for the house shows. Just put a really popular guy on the shows that the champion isn't on. Or put the IC Title on someone who's a big deal in the eyes of the fans (i.e. give it back to The Miz), and let him headline the house shows.

The HArdcore Title should be without the 24/7 rule. It shouldn't be used for comedy segments, but at the same time it doesn't have to be a total bloodbath like ECW. Make the matches like the street fights we've had in recent years. Or maybe have the champion defend in a cage match, ladder match, or table match to break up the monotony every once in a while.
