I 100 percent agree with him. And those who cried about it being ''to far'' diserve shit kiddie entertainment. fuck I seen a thread during last nights raw about someone making a topic saying titus o'neal going to far with jerry lawler comments?''

I mean jesus fuck people are pathethic. people shouldnt be offended by heyman and punk with lawlers skit. its fucking entertainment. grow up.... I my self lost people who I loved due to heart attacks and was not affended at all by the segment. I was glad and thought it was pure gold. if lawler is ok with it then its fine!

so yes I agree with paul heyman.

The reason people overreacted to Heyman-Punks stuff with King, was cause they were mocking a real life event that was life threatening.

Today, or even in attitude era, people wouldn't really like the company for having that happened.

Had Owen survived in 1999, don't you think that even in attitude era, fans would be real upset if someone were to mock Owens accident(by doing the whole entrance and stuff, and pretending something wrong happened during it too)

Punk and Heyman are right most of the time.

WWE and their lacky's Lawler and Cena are the true hypocrites.

To an extent, I do agree with what Heyman said, yeah.

My initial reaction to the fake heart attack segment was that it was in incredibly poor taste and I ranted a bit about it in the live Raw discussion thread. But then after I calmed down a little I've also since said in other posts that I found it a lot more interesting than the usual childish 'Barney The Dinosaur' type crap they've been doing for a while and I'd much prefer them to do more stuff like that going forward. Tone things up, rather than tone them down.

I don't think segments like that were what defined the Attidude era at all though. Interesting characters and feuds right down the card and better booking that created more unpredictable matches are what made wrestling great 14 years ago compared to what it is now.

This is like when Tommy Dreamer did all the nasty things 2002 Undertaker told him. If he is ok with this storyline why should anyone feel sorry for Dreamer?
In other words, we all draw the line in different places.

I agree, the people who say "Attitude would never stoop this low" are full of shit, but at the same time, there are other people who tend to act like sleaze was ALL that Attitude was, and that bugs me just as much.

I admit, if Lawler was still in hospital and nobody asked him I would say that they went too far but there is a big possibility that Jerry Lawler suggested this promo.
I simply don't get why people feel so sorry for Lawler in this segment when the same guy actually wanted it that way.
There is a big possibility that it went this way 1 week ago
Punk: Hey Jerry, welcome back
Lawler: Thank you Punk
Punk: You know that before the heart attack we had a little feud so it would be nice if you could act that you dislike me while commentating
Lawler: Sadly you can not attack me anymore because of my health but I have a better idea
Punk: Shoot
Lawler: What about you and your manager mock my heart attack
Punk: Are you crazy?
Lawler: Why not? I heard that you have problems to be accepted as heel so what can be a better moment to make the fans hate you by ruining my return and mock my health problems
Punk: Are you really sure?
Lawler: You act like you just became a wrestler. People do it all the time in the business. Remember the whole stuff I did with Jake Roberts 1996, Goldust in 1997 or with Michael Cole 2011 where he even talked about my mother and Grandmaster Sexay came back
Vince: And at the same time this will finally make all fans cheer for Cena
What do you think John?
Cena: I have a feeling this time it will work
I don't feel sorry for Lawler. I'm honestly not offended at all by the segment. I'm more puzzled than anything. Of all roads to go down, why this one? Why not just have Punk spit on Lawler and say he's glad he's 100% now because that's exactly how much he's gonna put into kicking Lawler's ass? Its like Vince's automatic reaction from as soon as Jerry got carted off moments after his heart attack was to start formulating how he can make an angle out of this on TV. THAT I have a problem with. The man almost died, leave him alone. No sooner was he back then you were exploiting his near death experience. It just comes off as a huge money grab, and ultimately, that's my issue.

Remember the whole 1998 segments with DX when they had this giant water gun and pretended that was a penis? That also never sold tickets, added ratings points or helped continuing a storyline but that was typical acting of a face stable in the AE and the Punk/Heyman promo was typical acting of a heel wrestler and his manager.
He also said that he was better than Bruno Sammartino. They will sure never have a match but he mocked him anyway. Not every segment needs to further a storyline, sometimes a segment is supposed to make a face more loveable and a heel more hated, just like when Nexus attacked the WWE legends or R-Truth who attacked Hornswoggle, there was never a build up to a match
And btw Punk had problems with Lawler before the heart attack, Punk had problems with all the legends who disrespected him and he interrupted him just like he did it with Vince, JR, Bret Hart and Mick Foley.
Yeah, the only thing is that DX using a phallic water gun and Nexus attacking legends didn't have to do someone legitimately dying or almost dying. That's the difference. Cornette isn't a fan of that style of wrestling, but I was more talking about the fact that Punk doing that segment really didn't seem to have any giant effect that might have been worth going there. There are several other avenues they could have taken and obtained equal or better results.

Yes, these examples like Laurinaitis, Cena acting like Barney the Dinosaur or the horrible Brock Lesnar booking are all valid but look how WWE looked 1995 and compare it 2 years later.
Of course the AE will never be duplicated but why not having an era that is at least better than the crap we had in the last 3 years
The 80s proved that you can be PG and also be entertaining. The WWE just isn't right now because unlike back then, the writing team is shit and the bookers are laughable. Ultimately, that's the biggest problem they have. Yes the Cena pandering is annoying as hell, but that's just bad PG.

To be honest there is a bigger possibility that a WWE storyline about Chyna would upset me more, no matter that porn is nothing compared to a heart attack. It would upset me more simply because nobody asked Chyna for permission and if people could talk to dead people and Eddie had no problems with the "Eddie is in hell" storyline I would also not care for it
For you, if they get permission, its fine. For me, that permission doesn't necessarily make it OK. Simple difference of opinions.

I agree with his remarks at 100%. People are just stupid Cena marks and when they get something out of the ordinary, they usually hate it.
