Chris Jericho's Theory on Punk's Heel Turn
Quote:
CM Punk is channelling his inner nastiness once again, and even though the frantically busy Chris hasn’t had much time to watch RAW, he’s got a theory on Punk’s new-found heel turn, and new stable manager Paul Heyman, his old boss from ECW.
Jericho: “Listen, Punk is a great performer and a really great heel. I think he’s doing better as heel as he genuinely has more of that personality. When he was a babyface it was more of an in-thing after he did the speech, but I’m convinced he’s more comfortable being a heel.
“With John Cena there you’re never going to be No 1, so maybe he got sick of being No 2 and decided the way to get to No 1 was being a heel. I think that’s what’s going on.

I think Jericho hit the nail on the head, that maybe Punk is trying to become #1 by becoming a bigger heel than Cena as a face.

Jericho is one of the smartest men ever in the business. Every interview he's done about wrestling or a wrestler has been on point

Re: Chris Jericho's Theory on Punk's Heel Turn
Obviously he can take the #1 heel role, there hasn't been one since Triple H stopped being full-time. #1 face won't change from Cena until Daniel Bryan turns face.

Jericho meant #1 in the entire company and that he wasn't getting over Cena unless he went heel

As much as I love Daniel Bryan, there is no way he will surpass Cena as a face.

Re: Chris Jericho's Theory on Punk's Heel Turn
its kinda clever. Punk is keeping himself fresh with new material as Cena gets progressively staler and staler as time goes on. Punk is proving that he can correctly play any role required of him while Cena cannot do that. Its clever, risky but clever...

Jericho is right as usual. I always like Y2J's perspective on WWE related stuff. He has a great passion and knowledge of the business even though he is busy doing other things.
