-- WWE is now officially listing Jerry Lawler for Tuesday's Smackdown TV taping in his hometown of Memphis. Lawler has been added to the roster page for the taping, where Lawler is expected to address the hometown crowd one month removed from suffering an on-air heart attack during Raw.
Re: Lawler Offcially Advertised For Smackdown Taping Tomorrow
fuck u guys im looking forward to this, hes been through too much for me to give a crap about commentating right now, i can picture him smile as he looks up to the audience seconds before sitting down and putting his headset on, that image is tattooed in my head.
If he's eventually going to return to commentary maybe they can keep him on Smackdown and offer JBL a deal so he can continue to commentate on Raw with Cole & JR. I wouldn't mind if they work it out that way.
Maybe. I've heard Smackdown has a lighter travel schedule, so if he does come back to commentary it would probably be better for him to be on there. I also wouldn't have to put up with his lackluster commentary on Smackdown considering I barely watch the show anymore. The A show in RAW should have the superior commentators like JBL and JR commenting instead of Lawler. Sadly though, I see JBL and JR as just temporarily replacements. I could see Lawler returning to commentary soon. Some people will say he shouldn't really return given what's happened and that he should just retire, but I don't think Lawler wants that honestly. If he does decide to come back, I think he should just commentate, and not wrestle again, just to be safe.
Nothing against the King and I wish him all the best, but I would not mess with the JBL/Cole/JR team. JR is shaking the rust off and is getting back to his old self, and the dynamic between Cole and JBL is a good one.
Lawler sucks. Worst commentator EVER. He needs to go away for good... WWE is better without his boring commentary. He even admitted he doesn't enjoy being a commentator.

I still enjoy performing in the ring as much as I ever did. I didn't get into this business to be a commentator; I don't even really enjoy being a commentator. I just happen to be able to do it where people can stand to listen to me.

Make him a manager for Jack Swagger or something if they want to turn Swagger face, or have him commentate on Smackdown at a push. Under no circumstances should he return to commentary on RAW.
ugh... can't believe we are going to get crappy commentary again after the last month. not hating on Lawler and his collapse was horrible, a horrible tragedy and thank fuck he is alright........ But he really does suck on commentary.
Its saddening that I felt disappointed with this news. I don't have any sort of hate towards this guy but I feel the current commentary team is far superior. I hope he doesn't replace JR or JBL, the latter I hope the most. He could however join them which is alright in my opinion.
Ugh. Just great, the commentary table was actually enjoyable when that orange old fool was gone. JBL please save us all from that disaster and keep him away for good.
Maybe JBL and JR just want to be 'sit-ins' too! Lawler is a legend and I'd rather hear his voice over someone like Josh Matthews anyday. His role just needs resetting, make him a heel and get him entertaining people again.
Lawler hasn't seemed to care what's actually going on in front of him for the last 5-6 years. He used to be so good with JR, one of the best commentary duos of all time.
But now... how the mighty have fallen.
I don't wish any harm on the guy, and I don't particularly dislike him, but lets hope that this unfortunate incident has been a wake-up-call for him, and he stays away from regular commentary.
