If CM Punk held the title until July 25, 2019....
If he held the title for that long, surpassing Bruno Sammartino for the longest WWE title reign ever - how would you react to that? Let's assume that CM Punk, would at this point - retire one week after Sammartino's reign is beaten.
Probably 99% of you don't see this as a possibility, but I kind of do and I think it'd be pretty neat for Punk to stay champion for so long. However, I'm sure it'd get boring eventually and they'd probably stop it after the second year if they had the intention of doing the above.

Wouldn't happen, he'd run the WWE out of business.
Seriously though, how in the fuck can you see this as a possibility? He's not big enough a draw for that to happen, and people today including myself have short attention spans so we'd get really sick of him being champion for so long--hell a lot of people even now are annoyed with him being champion for as long as he has been. Not necessarily a knock on Punk, not even John Cena could do that.

The thing is, he doesn't need to be a draw to stay WWE champion. Does the show truly center itself around the WWE champion or around who draws more? Why not keep Punk champion for a very long time, and allow others to outshine him here and there - those will be the draws.

Look at CM Punk's entire title reign and answer the question yourself. It's obviously the person who draws the most, and it has always been the person who has drawn the most. Why not? Because people would get sick and tired and the writers wouldn't be able to think of anything fresh for him to do for so damn long, they're struggling even now. It's not possible and it's not good business. |

Exactly, of course it's the person who draws the most. What I'm trying to pitch is that some people should simply be "above" the WWE championship like The Rock, Cena, Sheamus, etc. Those guys will be in major feuds, which will draw a lot of money. It's what WWE will market more. The WWE champion, meanwhile, defends against all challengers and takes a backseat to the guys above the WWE title.
I mean, I just see it this way. Cena shouldn't hold the WWE title anymore. He's just too good for it at this point. Aside from Cena, there is nobody else who I can possibly think of holding the WWE title without ruining its credibility. I just don't think Cena's time for a title run is now, but I can't think of anybody else besides Punk to hold it.

How can anyone disagree with this? He is the best in the world and really tough and heroic he punched that sunglasses guy before he could pull out a gun and start shooting, countless lives were saved. CM Punk deserves this.
