Ryback Discussion Thread

He got a huge reaction on Monday Night Raw. In my opinion the guy is gonna be a huge star come WrestleMania 29. Is Ryback the next big thing?

its laughable you think he can be the next big thing like a brock lesnar or cena etc , he will be good but i dont think he has mic skills / cutting promo's but its interesting how it'll unfold

Just like anyone else, as big as Vince McMahon wants.....and unfortunately it seems like he wants him to be extremely big. The only thing he can't be is the face of the company, because the fans decide the #1 guy, as that position is completely about revenue, but Vince can decide anything from #2 to lower based on his push. So I'll say #2.

Fucking sad.

He can be huge. WWE just need to feed him more. On a more serious note, Vince loves the guy and will push him to anything but the top #1 guy, as that is out of his control as he cant pick who the audience will love. But anything around that is possible.

Does anyone else agree that before they start pushing him he needs to lose? I'm serious, too. The 'undefeated streak' gimmick is a poisoned chalice. For whilst people care about the wrestler when they're squashing jobbers, there's an inevitable - sometimes devastating - downturn in their popularity following their first loss. Look at Goldberg, after his first loss he was completely rudderless in WCW.

Ryback needs to lose to someone - but in a way which puts him over. So, a guy like Sandow may cheat to beat Ryback but is destroyed by him after picking up the victory.
That way you can have Sandow gloat about his accomplishment and still leave people with the image of Ryback as a badass.

But this winning streak just needs to end, I can't think of many more gimmicks more detrimental to the character than that. It simply has no longevity whatsoever.

This is too premature to comment on that till he gets a REAL main event feud where there is a story involved with some grudge. Now, he is merely squashing jobbers and exchanging stares.

Regarding his mic skills and promo abilities, am waiting for the day he is going to get a manager like Paul Heyman was for Brock and Ric Flair stuck around for Batista in their initial days. Then, we can decide how big a force he is going to be in WWE.

It is entirely upto the Creative headed in the direction Vince's finger points. Last read rumor was Vince wants Ryback to be pushed as big and as unstoppable as possible which could mean that there is already a plan for him.
