That voice is fucking intimidating. That was a pretty good promo, I'm sure he can hold his own in mic segments if he needs to.
seriously?, are your standards that low?, it was fucking awful and cringe worthy, even Lesnar cuts a better promo and that's saying something because he is bad as hell
I think the reason people dislike him is perfectly valid. He's getting pushed ahead of several far more talented guys, even though he isn't particularly good in the ring or on the mic, simply because Vince has a fetish for muscleheads. For that reason he's getting a massive push that he hasn't earned and is already main-eventing a PPV for the WWE Title when he's not had a match longer than 3 minutes.
The reason he's over is because he is being shoved down the audiences throats and constantly positioned as a big deal, when he's not yet. It's the typical Vince push: keep putting him over constantly until the people give in. And they have.
Now I'm not a Ryback 'hater', as far as big guys go I think he's OK in terms of charisma. But he should be NOWHERE NEAR main-events or the Title and the fact he's already in one is a slap in the face of both knowledgeable fans and the wrestlers who have worked hard for years to get into that sort of spot.
One could argue that's true of just about everyone at the top of the company. It's largely subjective anyway.
They gave the guy an opportunity. He ran with it. It worked and he got over. That's not a slap in the face of anyone. It took a matter of months for the push to convince people to "give in" so the guy was doing something right.
I hate squash matches, so I wasn't even a fan of this Ryback mega-push (I liked Skip though), but I can't deny that it WORKED. Oddly, the guy won me over when he started going by "Big Hungry." While I didn't think he was ready for a title match either, they've put him in that position, so they might as well see whether the guy can run with it.
It might be too soon to main event a PPV, but he got over big and they want to strike the iron when it's hot. Understandable. That's what WCW did with Goldberg, although on a higher level obviously. Now Ryback needs to win. The moment they booked this match, they knew what's the consequences. If Ryback goes to HIAC and sell for someone who looks like Punk too much, let alone lose to him in any way, his aura is dead. He will never be the same because his main attraction is that he's a killer, an unstoppable force who will beat everything on his way. If it's still Ryback vs Punk at HIAC, one on one? Ryback IS going over without a doubt. Vince knows the future value of this character and you can see that he's ready to invest in him, Ryback is a future big money. You can also see that Ryback himself knows his character to perfection, he's a smart performer, the deep breathing, the walk, the taunts. If next Monday is over without a 3 way or a replacement, Ryback is the new WWE Champion, I have no doubt about it. And I would love to see it.
I love the people that chime in with why doesn't XYZ-wrestler get the match since they've been here longer. the WWE is a business of entertainment. Tons of other guys have gotten monster pushes also...nobody cared. Ryback got a push and he now brings the arena down. It shouldn't be hard to see why the WWE is going full speed ahead with Ryback. The fans go crazy for him.
I'm loving that Ryback was given the title match but I was slightly disappointed by the crowd response when he hit his finisher on Punk. That should have been Ryback's moment where the whole building erupts but instead they just raised the level of their cheers slightly and that's it.
If they really want to ride Ryback, then godbless the WWE. I didn't know smashing and beating jobbers made you something, but the fans (especially the fickle ones) eat it up. Me? besides the subway segment have seen nothing from him at all that says "Main Event" other than he's "big" and has a chant. At this point, I can't wait to see and hear the bullshit when Ryback wins the belt. "It's only a matter of time..." to.."I can't believe this fucking company!!". Hell, he might as well beat the Rock, why not? I doubt punk will lose, but right now everything is sort of upside now. Anything is possible at this point.

Completely agreed, there was almost virtually no difference in crowd response, bullshit on the crowd's part. That should have been Ryback's moment in the sun before HIAC, but I can sort of understand the lack of excitement. I believe the crowd thought that Punk was going to weasel his way out of the Shell Shock again, and they were saving the actual moment for the go home. It was almost like the crowd was stunned when he actually nailed it.
After getting clotheslined he should have grabbed the belt and ran for it, or atleast they should have teased the finisher or had him give it to Pauly.

The crowd was TERRIBLE last night. They weren't into anything. Even when Cena came out, they cheered for like 3 seconds then it died off. Worst audience I've seen in a long time.
