Also like to add I was a huge fan of Goldberg and WCW as a youngster and I love Ryback now, so I see no problems really.

Do you know how steve austin became the greatest wrestler of all time? Do you know why he didnt give up in WCCW when they called him shit? Do you know why he killed himself trying to have the match of the night in WCW when nobody gave a shit about him? Do you know why he got angry in ECW and trying to rebuild himself? Do you know why Austin just needed one night to turn himself into a future megastar at king of the ring? Do you know why Austin kept wrestling with a broken spinne and neck?

Because he fucking loves this business. Because stone cold steve austin has passion. Because stone cold steve austin wanted to become the greatest wrestler to ever live and he didnt care how many assholes stood in his way and how many told him he couldnt make it

Goldberg had the entire world offered to him on a silver platter and he threw it away.

Hulk Hogan, a man most consider an asshole, had his leg snapped on his first day of training. He then crawled back to train for more, because he loved this business.

Can you imagine a world without Steve Austin and Hogan? Because if those two had no passion, they would have given up a LONG time ago. Dont you dare undermine the effort of those who fought, bled, broke and suffered to make it in this business. Because those men are what define wrestling. This business is a cruel bitch, and I doubt it would have survived if it wasnt for those willing sacrifice everything for it

also someone asked for the summerslam match

Spoiler for summerslam nexus:

Regardless of who he thins he is, Goldberg had a huge impact. He is only riding on the same gimmick that Goldberg had.

In his defense, I respect him. It's just that wrestling isn't very popular in mainstream culture at this point. So even if he was as good as Goldberg, no one would care/know about it.

Ryback will NEVER draw the kind of money Goldberg did or make as big as impact, it doesn't matter how long he's here. He doesn't have it in him, he's just an imitation.

Goldberg also isn't a weakling who can't pick up 350+ lbs despite being roided out of his mind.

Could have been so much bigger? He's one of the biggest draws in wrestling history...
this.

Whoever talks about "passion" is just another Cena wannabe ie "HE'S NOT HERE, IM HERE!!!". I dont give a fuck whether they love wrestling or not. I bet lance storm and chavo guerrero live and breathe wrestling, but when i see them on TV i change the channel. However, nobody changes the channel when Goldberg is on tv, the man is a fucking draw and is entertaining. He had the IT factor, presence, charisma, brute power that ryback can only dream of. Like somebody earlier said, if we dress up Rey in yellow and red, i guess we can say he is better than hogan too since he is a better wrestler??

The ONLY thing that matters in pro wrestling is ability to entertain and draw. Goldberg in 98 was equal to Hogan, Austin and Rock (at each ones respective peaks) in terms of overness/drawing ability. I think that sums this thread up

edit. For those talking about Rybacks "rampage" in summerslam 10, go watch Summerslam 2003 when goldberg fucks the shit out of Orton/HBK/Jericho/HHH at the elimination chamber

I can understand Ryback sticking up for himself. It has to be hard hearing all those Goldberg chants etc.

I do understand his point about Goldberg only being in it for the money but it really doesn't matter why you're wrestling. The important thing is only whether you're good or not and Goldberg was good. He was a much bigger deal than Ryback and at a time when wrestling was a much bigger deal than it is today. Goldberg was also better in the ring imo. He was much more explosive and athletic than Ryback is which made him a lot more fun to watch.

They are close as far as in ring skill goes. Goldberg had more speed behind some of his moves, but he was also far more wreckless and hurt more people. Ryback seems to be a safer worker at the very least.

He lifted Tensai on Smackdown. No effort. Goldberg doesn't lift The Giant if he sandbags.

Ryback > Goldberg

Wow, that was easy.

too early to determine. but I like that he is confident in his own right. He didn't go overboard and be a dick about it, he just said "I'm confident that I'm better he was." He still gave him his praise though.
