The way I see it Ryback was a mid-card nobody pretty much and now he is something more than that, even if he falls back to the mid card it's not like they lost anything by trying to push him.
He's over, yet the "Goldberg" chants still overshadow the "feed me more" chants? I guess he's over as the wrong wrestler, then.

Yea, because Cesaro is becoming a legend feuding with R-Truth.

Ryback was squashing jobbers and the mid-card in a manner to where they didn't even stand a chance. Kayfabe, he obliterated the Miz, who was going over Cena last year. It was a quick rise, but he did go through the proper steps. Nobody until Punk even posed a challenge or provided a longer than 3 minute match, even two on one. If they can keep his momentum going, he'll be fine.

I think Sheamus' initial mega-push was more over-the-top than the one we currently have with Ryback.

They were on the right track pushing him, however they blasted him past the mid-card faster than Domino's delivers pizza.
They've put themselves in a position where they either have to give him a high-profile feud or a title match asap.

I imagine they'll have him win the rumble and face the WHC, or wreak havoc in the Elimination Chamber, eliminating all of the other opponents. Would make for a great underdog story at Wrestlemania or Summerslam. (Like Eddie Guerrero vs. Lesnar)

They just can't have him go back and squash jobbers again.

yea i know they pushed him to soon in my opinion, personally no comparing to goldberg, but they should of gave him a winning streak like that.. and if they thought he was not ready, they should of let Ryback loose to a jobber that was ready to be a big time star.

No, he didn't. If they really wanted him in the title picture this early, then they should have put him in the U.S. title picture. It would have made more sense, because like I said, he never really proved himself. That's what they were originally going to do, which is why he got that victory over Miz that you mentioned.

They'll have only screwed up if they stop pushing him now.

They didn't push him too fast. The problem is they didn't give him a belt. It was like a bad tease. They built him all the way to the top only for him to lose and have nothing to show for it. Now he's right back into squashing people. With Punk not wrestling much anymore outside of PPV's why is Ryback not main eventing Raw shows? If he doesn't win the WWE or the WHC soon, they might as well flush his character down the toilet.
