Actually, this sounds like an awesome idea. I want it to happen.

It's not about being PG or not. It's about giving something different to a show that has mostly not changed its format for the last 10+ years. While everything else in the world has evolved, WWE has not.

And he's not making a difference to the viewership to be fair. He could no show and the ratings would still be 2.5 like last week when he was the 'main guy' with Cena being absent. Only draw WWE has is Cena and even he is losing his star power from over-exposure.

And the show still sucks.

Yes. He is. With Cena gone on injury he is the top guy right now on house shows and the like.

However as for the ratings argument, he is not picking up the pieces left behind in the absence of Cena. He is in the only drawing segments of the show, however the ratings are still low, the people who watch a lot the show and wait for a Cena appearance don't do the same with Punk and usually switch out and in only for key things.

Anyway, the show is still a clusterfuck right now and has no direction outside of the main event feud(which is pretty fucked with Cena's injury now too)

Exactly the reason why I have both of the bolded members on ignore.

Rock316AE is a quality poster, and at least when he says he dislikes Punk, he'll give solid arguments to back it up. That I can respect.

The other 2 shmucks just make things up, repeat the same empty, baseless argument over and over again (which itself is laughable) and constantly try to push their opinions as facts. Rule of thumb is that reading their posts is a waste of time.

And for the record, yeah, threads like this are just an invitation for a fight.

I don't necessarily agree with the OP but why is there so much emphasis on how much of a draw a wrestler is from fans on the internet? It shouldn't matter how much of a "draw" he is. If you find him entertaining, you find him entertaining. Let the people who run the company worry about ratings and such. It shouldn't matter to us. Using it as an argument for someone being crap is such a cop out when the very same people who say that praise guys to no end who aren't proven draws either. It's hypocritical.

Having said that, Punk is not "sharing the load", that is a definite stretch. Most of the pressure still remains on Cena's shoulders without a doubt and he is the undisputed number 1 guy in the company. And its not going to change for a little while yet. Punk will never be "the guy" but has a real chance of cementing himself as the top heel in the company. And he's doing a pretty good job of it so far.

I think if CM Punk went too it would plummet...all he is doing is keeping WWE's head barely above water which is understandable, not because he cannot draw but because one guy cannot carry a whole 3 hour show, Neither him nor Cena can do that.

This only serves as a warning to the WWE that their coasting time is limited. Cena, Punk and team hell no are the only ones drawing right now. Sheamus is the definition of an anti draw so he is no use, Ryback could be but its too early to tell, he could bomb in a few weeks.

they need better storylines and character development, not filler matches and comedy wrestlers.

I feel sorry for Punk, it is a lot of pressure to put on him at a time when there are barely any back up storylines like the whole triple H/Brock Lesnar angle during the summer.

its a combination between bad timing and poor booking. one man doesnt make or break the show...unfortunately due to the way the WWE book things it appears two men do, Cena and Punk and punk is floundering because his feud has lost its momentum due to Cena's injuries. This time should now be spent building new storylines, and not just involving Ryback but a good section of the Midcard which will serve as great insurance if they wind up in this situation again anytime in the current and foreseeable future

And this is why the ratings are sooo bad.

as a fan, i don't care about the ratings - i leave that to the suits to clammer over, even though they put far too much emphasis on them. i, for one, am proud to have a legitimately good wrestler as wwe champion who refuses to play the 'cool heel' and instead brings it old school. i think a bret hart comparison is fair and deserving here.

I barely get involved in the rating bs, mainly because I watch online and am Australian.

CM Punk is one of the only reasons I'll bother looking up the show, I posted a week or so ago that his promos are what drew me back. Without Punk, I wouldn't have tried coming back. The only other interesting thing going is Kane & Daniel Bryan. Sure Sandow is entertaining, but he doesn't draw me to watch.
