It was pretty weird since the entire beginning trailer for "The Other Guy" movie revolves around the Rock and Samuel Jackson, but tonights Raw movie promo for it you would never know that the Rock was even in the movie. I would have thought "The Other Guy" promo people would want to include at least a mention that the Rock was in it. I mean it does take a rocket scientist to have the Rock promote a product to a wrestling audience. So I can only assume that it was a decision by WWE management to intentionally exclude the mention of the Rock during the "The Other Guy" interview. So basically, why did the WWE did that? Vendetta against the Rock, saving him for a later date, or WWE is just that dumb.
My guess is because even though he is in the movie. He is not a main character. Ferrel and Marky Mark are the main characters so they are out promoting it.
Rock was supposed to be a main character in the movie, but if he is coming back, make sense not to mention him I guess, as I think The Rock wants his comeback to be a surprise which is why he hasnt any interviews about WWE since April
If the Rock ever returns [Seems more unlikely every year he wants to be in a WWE ring], it will be heavily promoted. It won't be a surprise. Vince knows the return of a guy that even people who haven't watched wrestling in 10 years would know will cause a huge ratings and merchandise spike for his company and he won't be missing out on it.
Oh dear God, if this is true, I may weep. I don't mind TNA or anything, but it is not the stage for a man of the Rock's status. It's the land of wash ups and new talent. If the Rock ever returns to wrestling, it better be for the WWE and it had better be a damn epic moment.
Rock damn sure didnt sign a deal with and TNA and its unlikely he really signed with WWE. Maybe so, but if Rock is coming back, I think this will be ONE surprise especially if it's at Summerslam. I just noticed all the WWE/Rock talk is fairly quiet on the dirt sheets. Meltzer was the one who said Rock wasnt coming back to WWE til August so who knows
For Austins movie, on a promo I saw, they said everyones name except his(the normal commercials however does have Austin in it)
When doing the WWE update stuff during commercial on Raw, they never mentioned Dwayne Johnson or the rock, though a few weeks ago, they did, so maybe something is going on?
In a thread a few days ago, someone did mention Rock possibly being guest host and appearing next week or at SS. Next week is in California and we all know if he does return, it'd be perfect return for Hollywood Rock.
It does seem strange how Rock-Austin had so much draw power in attitude era, yet now, outside the "wwe universe" its like nobody knows about them.
I think it's pretty obvious that with Meltzer stating Rock wasnt going to show up until August, Summerslam being a big promotion and in Hollywood, WWE needs something to lead into it, and The Rock appearing Monday as the new GM of RAW or even as a replacement for Edge and Jericho in the 7 on 7 match would be something classic(I think Edge and Jericho will be in the match but still). Rock appearing on RAW this Monday equals a big lead in for Summerslam on RAW's side.
When did they mention Rock on RAW a few weeks ago though?
the rock isnt a main character in the film. I think hes only in it for like 10 minutes. and rock replacing someone in the 7v7 match would make no sense what so ever and would be the biggest waste of a comeback.
