It isn't Rey who decides to put the title on himself, and he wasn't "using" Eddie's death to get to that level. That's just ridiculous. The writers just saw a chance to do a sort of "doing this for my fallen friend" angle, and that was that. Your comments are really out of line and childish, it looks like you hold a grudge for no friggin' reason.

But personally? I don't really like Rey either. I'm not a fan of his look, his ring-style, the way that he is pushed over bigger guys sometimes and really his finish, is just the final nail in the coffin. I'm never really that much a fan of the flippy-floppy stuff anyways.

My friend and I have discussed this on almost a weekly basis after we watch RAW: why the fuck do people LIKE Rey Mytserio?

I find nothing special about him. NOTHING. He bores the living hell out of me.

In my opinion, even though the writers used the Eddie edge to get Rey ahead, I would have had the balls to say to them "you know what? I wont use my dead friend like that." It's pretty sad that they used a human being's death to give a guy a push.

But more importantly,he's a nice guy face and the IWC can't stand those even if Rey is over as hell with the crowd.I mean the guy had so many great matches in his career over the years but can't get respect like HBK or Taker.

Rey is still capable of greatness in the ring imo and as for winning the title,WWE just thought at the time that the Eddie storyline would make a nice emotional underdog story and not pissed on because the people taught they were just using Eddie's legacy selfishly.

Because it's the fashionable thing to do on the Internet. Don't feel too bad, they do it to every wrestler, even Eddie. The people who complain about the 619 probably think it's a-okay for Ric Flair to go flailing into a turnbuckle and flip over like a fool or feel it's perfectly logical for Shawn Michaels to telegraph his own finisher which barely connects most of the time.

I've never had a problem with Rey really, I don't think he's as entertaining as he was from 2002 - 2005 but hey, neither are most superstars who have been around as long as Rey has. Plus Rey's been bogged down by knee injury after knee injury and definitely won't be able to last much longer.

I disagree with those that say the only reason Rey got pushed towards the World title was because of Eddie. I think his feud with Eddie in 2005 was done to help Rey transition into the Main Event and that had Eddie not unfortunately passed away I think Rey still would've become champion, it seemed inevitable.

Though I do agree with those who have said that a big reason behind the hate on Mysterio is the fact that he's a goody goody. His character has always been the ultimate underdog/baby face and people can't stand a goody two-shoes with no complexity (examples: John Cena, Randy Orton when he was a face in 2004, etc.)

From what I read so far in this thread I came to the following undisputable conclusions:

Short people can't wrestle. They can't do sports.

If you're 5'3-4 and 170 pounds you're fat.

Children mustn't watch or be interested in professional wrestling. (None of us was a child and we didn't watch wrestling back then)

Wrestling as a product mustn't be oriented towards children no matter how much money(even if this is what any business is about in the end of the day) that brings.

Every WWE wrestler has control over his/her words, actions, moveset. They can influence the development of storylines.

Wrestling entertainment should always be credible, no suspension of disbelief whatsoever.

When they tell you you're gonna win a title or get a push, you should say NO, THANKS.

Mic skills are more important than athletic ability.

Lucha Libre moves have nothing to do with technique.

Each and every wrestler must be the full package, have great matches with any opponent.

The greatest sin is to be a world famous and one of the most widely-recognizable personalities in the business.

You deserve constant bashing if you are loved/respected/admired by thousands of people/have lots of fans and get big pops.

If you have been SUCCESSFUL in any promotion you've wrestled in, then you are worth of despite.

If you always give it all in the ring and you are a genuinely good guy in real life, then you are no good, stale, bland, annoying, overrated...

If you devoted 25 years of your life to wrestling and to entertaining people and ruining your body in the course of doing so, then it's obvious you deserve to be hated. So you should just retire and go off TV. Be forgotten. Game over.


As for Rey's voice, anyone who has heard it outside character knows that he's got an absolutely normal male voice. He changes it during promos I have no idea why.
