He strikes me as a guy that would play politics to stay on top, but he didn't tonight. Weird

There is no point in Rollins, Braun, Finn, Bray, Ambrose, Miz, or Joe putting in any effort on Raw. Its going to lead nowhere. Everything comes down to being about Roman. Roman's journey to beating Brock at WM. Nothing and no one else matters.
And the funny part is, that rub from Brock is going to do nada.

What makes you think Rollins would play politics to stay on top? Rollins really has never had any sort of power. He was walking on eggshells during his WWE Title reign, and didn't correct anything to make him look like a star. He dressed how they told him to dress, wore what they told him to wear. I mean, Rollins is a good employee, but I don't know why anyone would assume him conniving.

Rollins is going to be a very useful guy to the WWE over the next ten years. He's more a bridging guy. Roman Reigns is someone they want to be a star, and in five years, maybe Big E will be there, and in seven maybe Mojo. Rollins is going to be a substance guy to keep people hooked over those years -- he's in the same class as a Jeff Hardy or AJ Styles.

A lot of truth in this post.

It's a shame that this is how WWE works, but it's absolutely the way it does. Being the "good employee" will always give a performer a ceiling, unless of course you've been selected by the top brass as "The Guy". Someone like Kane is a good example of this. A legend in his own right for sure, but was always the good employee, and thus was always subjected to either shit storylines or just plain lackluster booking.

Roman Reigns is cancer. Specifically, his booking. The rest of the male talent-- regardless of their reactions or ability -- have a glass ceiling they will never be permitted to push through. The roster exists to further along Joe Anoa'i, And until that changes, investing in any of these upper card guys is a fruitless endeavor. Guys like Seth will get just enough to keep him in the mix, but he'll never be truly booked to his strengths for any longevity. Neither will a guy like Ambrose. While the AE featured Austin as top dog, I never once thought they weren't booking talent like Rock, Foley, HHH, Kane, or Taker to their absolute strengths in order to maximize their potential as superstars.

That isn't the case today.

Romans eats first, and he also gets the leftovers. There was no reason he had to win the title at WM and then retire Taker the very next year. They'll likely follow that up with him beating Brock next year, and then some will have the gumption...the absolute balls to call into question the star power of the rest of the roster. He isn't the only reason, but he's one of the reasons why I simply can not endure the product any longer and have stopped watching. His booking is cancerous and until they cease to elevate one over all, none of these men will ever reach the highs they could otherwise.

I didn't mind the match to be honest. Although I certainly prefer Rollins to Reigns the kickouts were within reason. Which has always been one of my biggest issues with Roman matches. They looked like equals out there but Roman hit his finisher first.

Oh, and lol at Roman's drug test losses being used to strengthen any argument.

I understand Seth fans for not want him as the face in the current state of the company BUT I'm sure he would love to have that chance. I'm sure he has that desire.

Thing about politics tho, Shield being Shield (best friends, brothers etc whatever) will always be that key for them not going against each other at the back. That and the fact that neither Seth or Dean had to deal with the lowest of the lows within the company, so they don't have any chip on their shoulders. They are not Roman but they are among the privileged. On that note, they are much more fortunate than many great talent that came before.

He was never anywhere near number 1, Reigns has always been the guy. Plus Rollins is nowhere near a big enough star to play politics. Like everyone else when he's told to job clean, he does. He did it to Ambrose, Balor and now Reigns over the past year. Basically it's like this....... Reigns>>>>>>>>>Rollins>Balor/Ambrose. So it's Reigns way above everyone else with Rollins being slightly ahead Balor and Ambrose.

It's comical that people are debating this. Both of these dudes would be midcard at best in anything except this watered down era where total charisma vacuums are accepted as by the few remaining fans as "stars" and as the "face of the company".

The Shield are a total failure when you look at how strongly they were booked and what they've delivered in return.

Everyone knows that Reigns will be the future face of the company and the no.1 priority on Raw which is nothing new but I think Seth is doing fine where he is at the moment. He has to get more comfortable in the face role, he's one of my favourites and I loved when he was WWE Champion, I hope he wins it and reigns for long time once more. As others have said, there's no point having a discussion about this as Reigns is the one they care about. Maybe when Brock leaves once and for all, we will see WWE being forced to build up guys like Ambrose, Seth & Finn-put more focus on them so they can be challenges for Reigns.

No one likes Roman yet he is the #1 full time merch seller. Please tell me how NO ONE likes him if Roman sells all that merch?

Yes obvious! They even had him beat Punk when he was still around. On 3 consecutive RAW's punk beat Ambrose, than Rollins than of course lost to Roman. It wasn't clean but still bugged me at the time because I was already noticing that dean and Seth were eating all, if any, Shield pins.
