Heyman doesn't lie even during promos and only brings up something he really believes. What an honor for Balor to receive that compliment from the man himself!
I believe in my HEART Sophie Turner's gonna be my date to the academy's awards when my screenplay wins the oscar, but my BRAIN knows I'll get one mercy date a makeout session and no returned phone calls.."
Re: Does anyone take Balor seriously? I can't find anyone
It not the size thats an issue. Its that Balor doesnt wrestle in a style that can make him look like a believable underdog threat to Lesnar.
I would think Rey Mysterio in his prime would have a better chance, even though he was even smaller than Balor. Just because of the way he wrestled. He was super fast, athletic, and could attack bigger guys from all angles. And he was a slippery mofo who was hard to get a hold of and had insane high flying moves and reversals for days.
Balor would not have the speed, technical, or athleticism advantage on Lesnar. Which is the KEY thing a smaller opponent needs to have to make matches against bigger guys look good and somewhat believable.

Watching Raw atm and I've just sat through 10mins of Paul Heyman tell me that Finn fucking Balor is the best in ring guy on the roster. The guy who just does kicks and stomps and is too small to do any powermoves is the best on the roster? ROMAN FRIGGIN REIGNS IS BETTER THAN BALOR FFS in ring and out of the ring lol!
I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous. Heyman a good 3 inches taller than Balor,is hyping up Balor as the best choice to face Lesner.
Honestly now, if you didn't know who Balor and Heyman were, they were two guys on the street and they squared up to fight, whose your money on? Probably the younger guy but the fact that you even had to think about shows there is a problem.
We have Paul Heyman standing taller and looking hencher than the guy he is hyping to take the title off of Lesner.
There is a Cruiserweight division for a reason it's to avoid stupid crap like this.
Re: Does anyone take Balor seriously? I can't find anyone
I'd take him seriously as the new sidekick of the Singh Brothers
I'd even take him serious as the guy that stands in front of Maryse when she stands in from of Miz. Not that he'd be any more effective, but I'd rather see him get hit than Maryse.

Nobody is credible against Brock Lesnar, and it has nothing to do with him being 300 lbs. or being a former UFC champion. The only thing that matters is booking.
Reigns is the only one close.
Wrestling (and WF) would be so much better if people stopped being obsessed with how big guys are. It's freaking fake fighting with magic powers.

Nah, the way they buried him on commentary last week, they realized they had to make him seem credible for Brock.
I think Heyman kayfabe wants him to win because he'd be the easiest to beat and lost to a 50% Reigns the week before.
Hell, he looks smaller than your average WFer and was dwarfed in height and size by Brock's freaking out of shape advocate. The WWE have a screw loose if they really think people buy into someone as small as Balor pushing Brock :lmao

In no particular order, AJ, Brock, Nakamura, Rollins, Roman, Orton, Neville, Joe, Cesaro, Zayn, KO, Bate and Dunne are all well ahead IMHO. Those are names just off the top of my head, there's probably several more who belong in that list.
That's just in the WWE, probably another 20-30 in NJPW and the indys which belong in that list as well.

Re: Does anyone take Balor seriously? I can't find anyone
It is strange, this is the same Brock Lesnar who throws around guys like Cena and Reigns like he's taking out the trash. At the same time, I'm kinda curious how they're gonna do the match if it does end up happening.

I'm for anyone ending this joke of a reign that Brock is having. WWE has a case of Toxic Brock Syndrome and is looking for a cure, preferably :braun at Summerslam.

But yeah, I don't think it's fair to say he's "the best" ring worker on the roster. He's certainly great in his own right, but nearly every other top talent has had an otherworldly match at some point.
Styles had his match with Cena at SS.
Rollins had the Triple threat at the 2015 RR.
Zayn had Nakamura at Takeover, and vice versa.
Even Reigns had Lesnar at 'Mania 2015.
I could go on...
Until Balor has at least one of these "otherworldly" career defining matches, I don't think he can be credited as "the best".
Well, Bray Wyatt said he's the only one capable to beat Brock Lesnar tonight. I suggest we all take WWE's performers words lightly, they're just boosting each other up for the PPV.
I disagree. I like him. I like his Demon King gimmick. Does it seem credible to put him up against Lesnar? No. But last I checked, this is all scripted. Just like many other tv shows and movies that aren't even close to realistic. I find Balor to be entertaining. I'd love to see Balor win and for Lesnar to part ways with the WWE because I personally don't think he's an asset to the company at all and the $6 million they waste on him to appear a dozen times a year is ridiculous. If anything I think Lesnar is a shit main eventer. He has someone else speak for him while he hops around like an overgrown bunny and twitches his head, he's got a couple of moves, the guy bores me to tears and 99% of the time I forget he actually exists. Will Balor actually win if put against Lesnar? Well that's for creative to decide, not actual size and strength.
Editing to add, yes, I take Balor seriously. There, you found someone.
I think it just showcases the main problem with Raw's writing.
You have Paul Heyman, the guy who comes out with Brock Lesnar, standing in the middle of that ring telling us Finn Balor is the best in-ring performer today. It goes against one of the most important rules of storytelling: show, don't tell. Rather than just go ahead and show us what's so great about Finn in the ring, we have Paul Heyman telling us. Telling people what to think is one of the worst things you could possibly do in an industry like this. Over on Smackdown, Nakamura is being treated like a special attraction and a once in a generation talent. But no one is going on the mic saying he's better than everyone else. They're just presenting him as being different than the others, and in the ring he most certainly is. We have about four or five other people who do the same thing that Finn does in the ring. So when you make these claims, from Paul Heyman no less, it's hard for us to take it seriously when we're seeing other people do the same exact thing. Hell, one of the guys in the same match as him at Extreme Rules does it, possibly better. And when we see that, it becomes difficult for us to think of him in this way because we're now expecting him to showcase all-time great in-ring abilities.
I just don't understand Raw's writing at times. It's mind-boggling.
