That House of Horrors match was one of the worst segments the WWE has done in years. That was straight up mid-90s WCW horseshit lame. That was so bad that it completely erased any affection for or interest in I still had in the Bray Wyatt character.
The room full of baby dolls is when I finally realized that the version of Bray Wyatt that was unique and different and my favorite character on the show has been dead for a long, long time. They took away any and everything unique about him. He started out as a backwoods monster, a cult controlling anti-authority type figure. His promos had a purpose and a point, they had fucking THEMES and MESSAGES. He was weird but he talked about the real world. Critiqued society and the establishment. And for it he was over as fuck. I mean Bray Wyatt used to be over like a MOTHERFUCKER.
They took away his southern flavor, they cheapened his cult, they turned him into every other generic creepy character in wrestling. The version of Bray Wyatt that exists today is more like TNA's Abyss than the Bray Wyatt that had the potential for all time greatness. His promos are meaningless Kane-tier "creepy" ramblings. Traded in the Hawaiian shirts for generic leather and denim. I don't even really wanna talk about this anymore just fucking repackage the guy. Change his direction. He is still a great technical promo, he could run with a new character.
Fucked how the WWE could take one of my favorite all time characters and make it so that I don't wanna see the guy on TV anymore
If the WWE writers and bookers had half a clue what they were doing? He maybe could have been. This "supernatural monster" gimmick DOES NOT WORK if you keep BEATING THE FUCKING SUPERNATURAL MONSTER. He's such a loser, such a total geek.
Maybe if they introduced the Bray Wyatt gimmick on Braun, and Braun could do the spider walk and promo as well as Bray then maybe the gimmick would be a contender for the new Undertaker. Cause at least Brauns version of Bray Wyatt wouldn't lose so god damn always.
For his character to work, he needs to be booked stronger then he is. He needs to destroy people and they really need to fear him. He can't lose so many big matches or need inference to beat top guys. When you do that his creepy threats and actions become pointless and not scary. Because you know in a PPV match either Bray will get beat or need inference some type of assistance to win.
If he was able to win through his own cunning instead of having Jinder's crew come in, he'd look p. good about now. But instead Finder the Hinder ruins everything :mj2

AMEN. This is exactly how I've felt the last few months. I wanted to be excited about his title win but I couldn't because it wasn't that original Bray you described above. It was this new generic goon.
Nothing this company has ever done, bums me out more than how they fucked this classic character up. The most unique gimmick we had seen in years, and they flushed it down the toilet. See just like you I don't even want to talk about it anymore.
They did that House of Horrors match just to set up the future feud between Broken Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt. It's bound to happen. I mean Wyatt jumped ship onto Raw out of no where, not many were expecting it. Without a doubt WWE has Broken Matt and Wyatt in mind. Also he'll be used to develop Balor's demon character more. Whilst the match was pure garbage, they are planning to more with Wyatt.
I've been watching developmental NXT since it's inception and at first Wyatt was a pretty unique entity, but now he is pretty old. Whilst I may reacted with awe before, now it's just meh. There was a time I was hoping they would put the tag titles on Harper and Rowan, but strangely they never got it whilst Rollins and Reigns did. It just shows how much they valued the Shield over the Wyatts. Also the fact that the Wyatts didn't face the Shield in Wrestlemania 30 was a travesty and we got the NAO bullshit.
Bray Wyatt has been heavily featured and for a time he was protected, but the act got old and he lost that booking. His lost all his Wrestlemania matches and that is saying something. I think Wyatt is going to develop like Jericho later on. Years ago Vince never saw much in Jericho, but did give him the WWE championship and beat Rock and Austin in the same night. Wyatt beat Cena and Styles within three nights. Only problem with Wyatt is that he can't wrestle as well as Jericho.
When the Bray Wyatt character vignettes and debut first occurred in NXT, I was so excited and invested into his cult leader gimmick. Even when he first debuted on Raw with Harper and Rowan as a cult, they were incredible and I thought Bray was going to be the next man to fill Undertaker's boots.
Then they turned him into this dark "devil" character and completely dropped his cult idea. He's lost every big match and feud he's been in. Payback was the last straw for me, he looked like a fucking geek tonight. AND they had to have Jinder fucking Mahal assist him for a victory in a NON TITLE MATCH.
Bray is done. I seriously think the guy needs to leave WWE and take a year off or so from wrestling and just work on getting into better shape and thinking of ideas on how to extend his Wyatt character. The guy is too talented to be booked this awful.
What's everyone's thoughts?
I think the Ambrose Asylum match that people shit all over was MUCH better than that trainwreck. At least the entirety of that took place in the ring and actually had some semblance of wrestling in it, plus no interference. And it had thumbtacks, lol.
House of Horrors was horrendous, and I got more enjoyment out of people's posts on here saying how Randy would get back to the arena after Bray stole the limo :lol
But really, I'm just left with one question though.. HOW does anyone defend anything WWE does either in front of or behind the curtain anymore? I can't imagine the mental gymnastics that takes.
If this guy gets consistent booking for just 3 fucking months he'll be the most over guy on the roster. Everyone can recover with good booking, especially someone as talented as Bray. Fuck everyone in this company for ruining this goldmine.
As someone whom is a big fan of Bray, it's over. He's been done for awhile and at this point it's akin to repeatedly running into a glass wall expecting it to be a doorway. Repeat ad infinitum. He has a ceiling and they've made their stance on him very, very clear. As such, his character simply doesn't work anymore and it seems as if fans are checking out en masse. He gets nothing from me anymore and it's not even his fault which makes it so disappointing. It's very sad when you consider the potential he had. It was obvious during the Shield vs Wyatt's feud he could be a major player but booking castrated him with no anesthesia.
Real sad thing is that there are guys on the roster reeling but they still have a shot at recovering if Vince committed to them for longer than 30 days. Bray is beyond saving and has been since they made the decision to job him at Mania. That was the point of no return and the iron will never be hotter going forward as it was that night. Given the ending to last week's RAW, I really, really hope he goes nowhere near Ambrose. Dean is struggling enough as is with his own booking and glass ceiling. Him losing to a Wyatt this damaged would be a death sentence and he might as well be taken out back and put down if it happens.
Re-watching Wyatt's debut on RAW, makes me sad that they've managed to ruin his character so badly that now he's nothing but a rambling bafoon, with shitty supernatural powers, who can't win a match without help to save his life .
His character when he first debuted as the backwoods cult leader was absolutely amazing and was what they should have stuck with. Watch back his debut and the segments with the news reporters leading to his debut, absolutely A+ stuff.
He needs time off TV ASAP and needs to revert back to his original gimmick, drop the stupid hair braiding and all this gimmicky super natural leader crap and have him be the cult leader again. Give him Dylan Miley from NXT as his enforcer and have him brainwash people in to joining his 'family' and then he'll be able to get back on track. The character needs to be dominant and be able to 'change' people to have any effect on the audience, because right now, he never got any real revenge on Orton for ruining his Family and taking his title he just dropped a fridge on him and instead of inflicting any more damage on him, he ran away.
His promos and 'threats' are as empty now as they ever were. Absolute horrible booking. It's tough enough as it is to pull off a character like that, let alone in the era we live in. Without optimal booking at all times, a character like this will struggle big time.
They completely castrated him with this Orton feud.
