Am I missing something? How come Finn Balor "sucks" so much?

:hmmm

Like...yeah he got pushed like crazy and he's had a few injuries...but i mean damn i think he's pretty talented and has high potential with his gimmick for today's WWE. His mic skills aren't any worse than some people that have won championships over the years.

You'd think he should be a jobber based on some of the comments I've read.

But i don't know THAT much about him. Why such hate for him?

What can you expect from the same people who were happy and excited when Bray won the title but immediately turned their back on him not because of his own fault or anything but because of the horrendous booking he got! LOL. They blamed Bray's talent cause 'he never backs up what he says' like he gonna shoot on people during matches and win by force. This is the funniest shit.

These people also hated Cena's gut, and for some there was a huge obsession but now he is 'good' and 'great'. Same guy that was 'same old shit'. The guy that 'can't wrestle'. Owner of '5 moves of doom'. Hell they even voted him as the best wrestler on that poll thing couple of weeks ago lol.

They buried The Miz for years but the moment he got little bit of chance to showcase his real quality he became the most improved wrestler lol. As if he became good overnight at Talking Smack.

Wade Barrett and Nexus became worthless for many of them the moment management pulled the plug off. Suddenly they became 'they were not good anyway'.

They worshipped and dissed Dean throughout his main roster career. Tho they hate him now, its obvious that they are waiting his heel turn cause he suddenly going to become improved, great or motivated lol.

There are thounsands of examples like these we witnessed throughout the years. Watch years later how they kiss Roman's ass too. Hypocrisy is the name of the game.

For me it's because he's small, boring and Triple H's son.

Great post. The Miz part is so true, he didn't improve, they just changed their perspective.

Most people seem to hate Balor's fans than Balor himself, which I can understand because some of his mega fans are really fucking annoying :lol

Balor for me is just fine. I don't love him, nor do I hate him, and I'm mostly indifferent. I'm happy that people seem to really like him though and that he is consistently over to an extent as a babyface, because it is nice to have a babyface actually cheered.

1) His strikes look like shit.
2) I've yet to see him execute a proper slam, that Slingblade shite don't count.
3) His finishing move is absolute ass.
4) His offense :mj4
5) He pops his collar too much during his entrance, trying to be "edgy" and "cool" when he looks like an 8 year old who just inherited his dads vintage leather jacket.
6) Say what you will about AJ, but the man carries and presents himself like a star, so when it comes to his height and built it's a relative non-factor. But when it comes to Balor and his size and height, his offense does him no favors. People who have to sell his strikes and moves look like shit because they don't look like they would hurt, I mean the man opens his palm before he even gets halfway to the opponents chest/face. At least Roman opens his palm once his hand makes contact, or AJ attempts to make it look like his kicks have force. Finn just tries to make everything look graceful and pretty and in turn, everything comes off as ineffective. Which is why I laugh when Balor marks clamor for Lesnar/Balor.

7) The Demon gimmick is so astronomically wasted, its not even funny. It's like he doesn't even bother to change his style because he knows some people will mark over the paint alone. I mean, who comes out with that much extravaganza just to slap on a fucking collar and elbow tie up, with 5-10 minutes of chain wrestling? Dude should be starting matches by beating the ever loving shit out of his opponents, with his opponents constantly having to escape the ring and reevaluate their plans, but nooooooo. It's gotta be armlocks and wristlocks and all that shit that completely sucks me out of his matches.

The one good thing I will say about Balor is this... at least he stopped fucking crawling on his way to the ring and up the steps.... My word that shit was cringeworthy.

He couldn't cut a promo if his life depended on it. He has no personality. He's got an interesting gimmick but he puts ZERO effort into it. Geek Balor and Demon Balor are exactly the same. He's merely above average at best in the ring. And he's got HHH's megapush rocket strapped to his ass.

Whats there to like about the guy? He's a boring, barely talented and overpushed dweeb.

Agree with all of this. Especially Point 7. The worst part of it to me is I always think how much better this gimmick would be if it was given to someone like Miz, Jericho, Kane, HHH, etc. I'm not saying turn them into Demon Miz/Kane/HHH/etc. but those guys would make the most of this gimmick. Balor has been given a pretty good gimmick, but he puts no effort into it at all, its wasted. He's one of the few people in WWE thesedays who is given any sort of character but Balor lacks even a basic ability to make it work.

He's an entrance. That's pretty much the main selling point of his brand right now. Like @Legit BOSS pointed out, the warpaint is a cosmetic shift but with no real idiosyncratic chances. His ring-work is good, but it's not a selling point for him like an AJ Styles. His promos are generally not good at all unless they've been pre-taped. Storyline-wise they rushed the hell out of his push to the title without giving the casual portion of the audience a reason to get emotionally invested in his character because they know fuck all about him outside of being a dude that loves to dress up like a swamp creature. It's been all artsy-fartsy style and almost no substance with him so far, and therein lies the problem more than anything else, IMO

He's boring, he was over pushed on day 1, he has a lame "demon" gimmick, without his lame paint he's just a boring stale guy, with the paint he's still boring. He's the definition of garbage.

As much as I rag of the dude for being the most boring and bland motherfucker going, I should point out that I liked him before he came to NXT/WWE. A big portion of the blame is WWE's standard babyface character archetype, which has a history of producing fucking terrible faces. Finn is just more pushed and less charismatic than most other guys.

This is really too simple. Fergal Devitt, the man himself, is a natural heel. Finn Balor needs to be a heel. He has amazing heel charisma. He doesn't work as a WWE style face. Not to mention, when I see a demon character, I don't immediately think, "hey this guy must be a good guy". For Christ's sake, he helped make one of the greatest heel factions of the past decade.

He's pretty vanilla and does deserve hate, but he doesn't deserve any more than Reigns or Orton and for some reason they have a lot of fans here. Maybe it's because he's bland with an accent, maybe because people were triggered by him winning the world title in a month, or maybe it's because he's so small and WF seems to be a harboring ground for people who only care about size and nothing else. I have no idea.

Just because it's the "cool" thing to do, such as booing Reigns and now saying you "respect" Cena, and he was never "that" bad.

One of the the latest reasons given is because he is too small, but then they rant about bigger guys who juice!

I think Balor is awesome! Great move set, solid performer, great entrance and the demon character is creative as hell, but hey, what do I know? others say he has no character :hmmm

Prince devitt was one of my favorites in japan. I was excited when wwe signed him and marked when he made his nxt debut but it only took a few weeks for me to get bored of him. The wwe will never turn him heel because they believe he will sell alot of merch but he,s so much better as a heel and very cringey as a babyface

I don't like his No-Demon Entrance(no make-up on), especially the part where he's leaning back on the ropes while on the apron while the WWE Camera is basically focusing on his junk(many here know what I'm talking about). Blech! (bet Pat Patterson enjoys that part)

Anyway, Finn should be coming out to a different theme while his Demon persona should be what he currently uses. Yes, he's a bit bland so maybe he can go the Lance Storm route with that? lol
