Best Break Up = JeriKO

I'm not only saying this because it just happened, but the whole lay out of it was perfection. Jericho being his funny self, than seemingly breaking character by saying how much fun this team up has been, to the cold blooded betrayal by KO seemingly going back to his badass character from NXT. Thoughts?

I agree with Ronny, this betrayal will go down as one of the best betrayals of modern WWE history.

I liked it. Not sure where it will stands in history though. I mean at least compared to the time Shawn Michaels superkicked Marty Jannetty and put him through a window. I guess you could put it up there as one of the best anyway. Personally though I do think it was the best. Great acting by both, and great build up to the turn too.

The Jericho/Owens Breakup Segment Is the Proof in the Pudding Why Casuals Don't Care Anymore.

I'm a big fan of both. I fast-forward past dog shit Raw every week and the few minutes of I can tolerate always includes Jericho/Owens. ALWAYS.

I watched this week's segment that's being celebrated by everyone here, yet watched it not laughing at all through 90% of it. The first half of it I was confused as to is this supposed to be funny or just so cringe bad that it's funny. either way i felt stupid wasting my time watching it.

last 10% of it i found good and laughed a couple times. however, it was mostly bad with two of the best talkers in the biz and even the gilberg part they fucked up by not doing the full entrance from the dressing room.

i watch it alone late at night like always as its my secret shameful pastime cuz it's fucking embarrassing. i couldn't help but think if i watched that "great" segment being praised on here like it's a goat segment of all time with a non-wrestling fan how awkward and self conscious i would have felt.

it was mostly shit. jericho walking around with a stupid hat isn't lol. it was like a shitty new day segment for the first 90% of it until it got good. but by that point the damage was done and it was easily the worst jericho/owens segment they've ever done.

it was basically lesnar/taker breaking the mania streak match all over again. it was legendary by everyone's account cuz of the end. the whole match was shit, but the ending is all everyone remembers.

the smarks here are so in love with the two of them they don't see they've lost all perspective. by comedy standards of tv and movies that shit was like a 1 out of 10. shocking that casuals don't care anymore. the rock back in the day could probably ad lib a funny line that beat that entire segment.

You don't understand the characters. Chris Jericho is a moron who thinks he's amazing. That's the ENTIRE character. The reason it was funny was because of how lame Jericho is, and how awesome he THINKS he's being.

It sounds like you reacted like Owens did. That's how you're supposed to react.

I'm sorry but you just didn't "get it."

Re: Best Break Up = JeriKO

I would rate it alongside the Shield break-up because, unlike JeriKO, the Shield breaking up when they did was legitimately shocking. It was painfully obvious JeriKO would break up before Wrestlemania, and WWE kinda gave away what was happening in the two separate backstage segments with Triple H. The Shield, on the other hand, had seemingly no reason to break up and no indication of such a thing happening (there might have been a slight tease by Rollins the preceding week) after they had just absolutely demolished their only real competition (Evolution).

However, in terms of emotional investment in a segment and actually getting me to sympathise with the betrayed party, JeriKO wins hands down; I think even a lot of smarks probably felt legitimately sorry for Chris. Jericho was perfect towards the end with him seemingly shooting on how great the year with Owens was, and this segment marking the end of all that was a real gut-punch. Then, in kayfabe, you saw how much Owens meant to Jericho and how far Jericho was willing to go to show his appreciation for Kevin; the gifts might have not been what anyone would expect, but they were still indicative of a big effort. How Jericho delivered the "why is my name on here" line was really heart-breaking, and made Owens' sadistic attack all the more depraved. They're both amazing break-ups for different reasons, we'll see which is the more memorable one in five years time.

Re: Best Break Up = JeriKO

I enjoyed the whole segment from start to finish. Jericho dancing at the start was brilliant, KO reaction to the whole thing was great too. But if I'm being honest I didn't feel anything when KO starting beating the crap out of Jericho, to me the friendship always felt one sided. To me I always saw it as KO using Jericho to be able to keep his title. But at the same time it didnt look like KO wanted to beat up his so called "best friend" but it was something that had to be done for him to even have a chance at keeping his title at fastlane. His talk with HHH before that segment put thing in perspective too.

I still think The Shield betrayal was better, cos Shield.

But this was up there. We knew it was coming, but not when and how it would happen. And Jericho's utter shock at seeing his name on the List was brilliant.
