Really what even was that match? Just meaningless spots and moves along with an awful lot of no selling particularly by Owens, here is the highlight video of the match:
Zayn just does a bunch of moves one after another like a spot monkey and in a particular sequence that ends with a thunder bomb Owens no sells everything that came before. This was just an awful match that was as meaningless as the reason why it was booked in the first place.
I thought it was a rather enjoyable match, considering you knew going in there was like a 99.99% chance that KO wasn't gonna lose. And KO went over clean, which he desperately needed.
That's what you get in 90% of matches nowadays. Guys like Cena, Reigns, and most other main event talents/matches do it, the crowd loves it, and because of that it's automatically called a great match.
They fucked up their rivarly and history big time. I can understand their NXT encounter that was inevitable but dammit they milked this great potential in under just one year. Both of them should be separated from day one. They had great material in their hands but used for too many meaningless matches.
I thought it was a good match, but I wish they protected Sami Zayn's signature moves. It was kinda ridiculous how 3 of those signatures were used consecutively only to result into a near-fall. They need to keep Sami and Owens away from each other for several months on Raw at least, or better yet, place them on different brands.
I hated this match too. And I've liked past matches of theirs despite the nonsense, I think it's just too much of the same shit too many times. They've wrestled 800 times in the last 12 months and every match is the same. And Zayn is one of the only guys on RAW that WWE will allow Owens to pin.
This is a lot of Owens matches though. I remember thinking Cena/Owens 3 was one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever watched because of how blatant Owens "look at me be indie guy!" sequences are.
The sequence in this match where Zayn finishes with the blue thunder bomb for KO to easily kick out was one of the dumbest things I've seen in a match lately.
The real issue is the fact that they had ANOTHER match when their match at Battleground was supposed to be "the end." Still baffled that Zayn or Owens didn't go to Smackdown. Perfect way to split the 2 and WWE couldn't even get that right.
I am so glad that my interest for Raw decreased 80% since the split. There is basically nothing interesting going on. Everything seems tough to chew but in a boring way. Jericho was really good 'tho..
It was good, but we've seen it a thousand times. It's just so goddamn stupid to still have them on the same show, let alone wrestle in multiple matches after their incredible Battleground 2016 match that was billed as being the end of their feud.
Sami Zayn belongs on SD, where they actually need well liked, credible babyfaces, and it just boggles my mind as to why he is still on Raw getting lost in the shuffle.
Also, they continue to wrestle this type of style because it gets reactions from the fans, and is one of the only ways to get them to care given the shitty storylines and booking most wrestlers receive. I would love if both of them worked a match where more emphasis was placed on certain body parts, or less pins but a greater emphasis on the face/heel dynamic, etc. But they, and a vast majority of the roster, wrestle the way they do because WWE has drilled into the remaining crowd that this is good wrestling. And of course, this match got the "this is awesome" chant as well.
Yep, that was terrible. They tried to reincarnate the match they had this year and it was so awkward because there wasn't a feud behind it.
Worst thing was KO selling for a 2 seconds max although he landed on his head like 10 times.
That's how tv matches are written. Besides, it was still a fun and entertaining match and the crowd was into it. Doesn't matter if a few forum smarks weren't into it.
Zayn vs Owens matches are usually pretty good. Their last meetup at that ppv was fantastic. This one wasn't.
Part of the reason is because it's same spots, and pretty much the same match we've seen before. It's like 3rd Cena vs Owens match. Same spots over and over with just a different ending. These two NEED to either go on separate brands or have minimal interaction for at least a year. It's like when WWE keeps shoving shield reunions down our throats, it really then isn't special anymore.

Yeah, because wrestling isn't stupid and needs to be taken seriously and sold like a real fight!
Wait no the opposite of that.
