Ariya Daivari Is Absolutely Dreadful

I don't usually like to just single one person out like this, but, I'm sorry, I saw him last night on Raw and then again on 205 Live. He slows all Cruiserweight matches to a boring snails pace that shouldn't be anywhere near the division and works a "foreign heel" 80s style that is just meant to be vanquished.

He some how sucked the charisma out of a Jack Gallagher match, which I didn't think was possible! I feel like when he's on screen, every move he does, at least 10 people turn off their TVs, that's literally how bad it is.

The lameness must seriously run in the family.

The 80's foreign heel style can still work today in the right hands and an example of that is Rusev.

As for Daivari though, yes he is indeed boring and lifeless like his brother. I don't know why the commentators keep mentioning that Ariya is Shawn's brother as if Shawn is some legend in the business. I understand constantly pointing out that Cody is the son of Dusty, Natalya is the niece of Bret or Michael Shane is the cousin of Shawn Michaels, but Shawn Daivari, lol? That's nobody to be proud of there. They never pointed out that Cameron was the sister of Alicia Fox, then again if I were Alicia Fox, I wouldn't want anyone knowing I was related to someone who can't perform a pinfall right and whose favourite wrestling match is Melina vs. her.

I actually like that he works a style that doesn't need him to be athletic. It's the cruiserweight division not the everyone had to be a high flying technician division. He's with other dudes who are small for wrestling which basically means they both can have normal matches if they want. I thought the match was fine

Okay, when you have a cruiserweight division, the top two styles people think of, is some sort of high-flying (which could also be Lucha Libre) OR technical Next, he's not even some kind of amazing brawler. The cruiserweight division is also a division that needs to "wow" the crowd more often than other parts of the show, ESPECIALLY when most of these guys don't have very famous names where people know them outside of their newer WWE runs as much. You need to grab people in with something, even more so when they have no promo time (especially when they aren't super great on the mic already).

Reason why I single this guy out as opposed to some others, there's other non-high flying heels in the division, but there's some advantages. For example, Brian Kendrick does make matches go to a snails pace, but he's actually very charismatic and actually pops off a few good moves when his matches have enough time (such as his Cruiserweight Title defenses on 205 live).

Well apart from TBK, he is the only heel in the division that can get any reaction.

The person that interests me is Mustafa Ali. Since they already have one 'orient heel' in Daivari I think they will go with another direction. His interview from last 205 Live points the prejudice of fans towards him. I don't know anything about the guy's previous body of work but if somehow, someway they can make him face that would be awesome.

I agree he's dreadful but since he's one of the few actual characters in the division I don't mind him as much. There are way too many bland generic guys in the cruiserweight division right now.

Gallagher, Swann and Kendrick are really it and even then they aren't particularly strong characters.

I don't see why more people aren't being more creative with their gimmicks. Even on the indy scene where 'Creative' isn't around as an excuse, there are still tonnes of bland generic 'My gimmick is I'm a good wrestler's
