Roman Reigns matches are a plodding bore

Really, whose idea was it to have this guy go and have a 30 minute match? A 10 min Roman match is the same as a 30 min match just with three times the bore added in.

All his matches are the same, he is booked as the “underdog” (which is impossible to buy into) that gets beaten up for 90% of the match, hitting clotheslines, a few kicks and the mandatory superman punch to remind the crowd the he is still alive during that time. Then near the end the match becomes a spot and near fall fest where Roman hits all his signature moves and does the whole “hulking up” thing.

Roman simply doesn’t have the skill to actually make things interesting on his matches before that final bit. Everything he does is a spot and anything in between is just him plodding his way to setup the next spot. He doesn’t do any chain of moves to get from one spot to the other but just gets beaten up and lies on the floor most of the time. This is why a lot of people say he is carried on his matches, he seems clueless and loses the crowd during the time between his spots. His matches just don’t have a good flow. The matches are just plodding and boring.

HIs very limited move set doesn’t helps matter either (would it hurt him to add a suplex or two to his repertoire?) and only contributes to all his matches feeling the same.

His last four matches, the 2 against Owens and the 2 against Rusev, have been underwhelming for this very reason. When people say that Roman “can’t wrestle” they this is the sort of stuff they are referring to.

They are trying to book him as a 70's babyface in 2016. It's such a waste not to turn him heel. Trying to get him cheered is counterintuitive.

I think his feud with Rusev has been some of his worse matches in recent memory, honestly I think they lack chemistry and don't gel well together.

Him constantly winning in this feud has made the matches boring too.

What you do inbetween moves is maybe more important than the moves themselves, in ring greats like HBK and Eddie make this clear when you watch their matches and I agree this is what Reigns (and a lot of the current roster) lacks though I would add, it's much harder as a face.

Compare heel NXT Sasha to face RAW Sasha, she made everything she did in the ring count as a heel but can't do it face.

Well i have to disagree with you on that Roman cant wrestle. I mean the guy can do things that most heavyweights can do and i like his sitout Crucifix Power bomb and the one arm Power Bomb too and he does have a great spear(Better than Edge and Rhino's by a mile),The only problem with him is his booking and the whole Underdog thing. Ur right, he doesnt look like a underdog or even fight like one and he really does need to turn heel, but as for his mic and In-ring skills,I feel like he is starting to get better as a Wrestler and soon the WWE Universe may start to be behind him after this US title run and maybe(Just maybe) He can work his way back into the Main event again. But this is what i think is wrong with him..Please dont hurt me :{

Reigns shouldn't be wrestling matches like the one he did on RAW, no way, the whole thing was seriously unsatisfying, especially with the ending.

He's a solid wrestler, but he's not got it in him to go for that long.

I don't give a shit if Reigns can wrestle or not (he can't). The fact is if I want good matches, there are a billion guys on the show that can wrestle better that I don't hate and who are not grossly overpushed.

Totally agree with the OP. Watching his recent matches with Rusev only served to remind me of how fucking mediocre this guy still is. It's not that "he can't wrestle," it's that he's flagrantly average while having absolutely no excuse to be so average. His moveset is even more uninspired than Ambrose's, and he's one of the worst sellers I can think of, too, most of the time. The dude is just not a talented performer in any sense of the word--he excels at absolutely nothing--yet he keeps getting pushed as a top guy for god-knows-why.

His look, his signature gestures and two signature moves are not Bad, but everything around that, ALL the psychology is just nonexistent.

Absolutely, and that's quite frankly the be all and end all TBH as far as wrestling matches go. Professional wrestling has always more been about indulging the audience than about an endless flurry of moves and counters. Rock-Hogan didn't deliver a technical masterpiece at WM 18, nor were they expected to. Hell there wasn't one move out of the ordinary in that match. Yet, the match is considered amongst the greatest of all time, only because the crowd was engrossed to such an extent that every small move from a punch to a stomp to even an Irish whip was being wildly reacted to. That's what wrestling has always been about.

We can have all our subjective discussions on Reigns' wrestling skills but the fact remains that on the only objective point of note and substance, Reigns' matches get by far the most crowd involvement and attention, which in turn makes for compelling T.V. The cruiserweights were admonished by the audience last night despite showing "supposedly" much superior in ring skills, but Reigns-Rusev performed to a comparatively much more lively and engrossed audience. Which scenario would you prefer? For me, it is unequivocally the latter, by a long shot at that.

Yea the man who's had more MOTY candidates then anyone on the roster can't wrestler smh

And as usual the OP is one of the usual Anti Roman marks who does nothing but shit on the guy cause it's their gimmick

When I put Raw on last night and saw that they were opening with a Roman match, I immediately lost interest and turned if off. In fact, I was so uninterested that I watched those two idiots debate instead.

Call me a hater or whatever you want, but I just find Roman unintersting, period. And since he will most likely be the next Cena, I have even less interest in him.

His selling is comical. His in-ring methods are like waiting for a gun to go off with no bang.KEEP HIM AWAY FROM THE MIC AS IF IT WERE KRYPTONITE.(In fact such a segment would be one of the more entertaining ones of his ironically.) Cena and Reigns are a reminder that WWE is cursed with Vince's "look" fetish. Plain revolting.

OP's entire gimmick is Roman Reigns hate and that's all he posts about. How embarrassing.:mj4

Anyways, no his matches aren't boring. It's so funny to see people who's favorites don't even have good matches often try to judge. It was one match, which was 30 minutes long with an unsatisfactory ending. It was also an oldschool style work. Sorry it wasn't a movespamming flippyfest. If people want to label themselves as avid wrestling fans, then they need to be able to appreciate a match that isn't just instant gratification Street Fighter nonsense.

As for the match, it was a decent match. I don't think it's their chemistry so much as I think Rusev doesn't tend to have good matches unless it's a full out hoss fight. Roman seems to have some nagging injuries so that's stifling them from putting on a power clinic. September is also usually a time of conservativeness for those with HIAC matches because that's when crap HAPPENS. That seems to be where they're heading, so I don't see any reason to be concerned.

Imagine being so pressed over ONE wrestler that you dedicate your entire online gimmick to hating them. Lmao #CantRelate

I'll admit that the last two Roman vs Rusev matches weren't amazing but saying he can't wrestle is ridiculous. I don't see anyone blaming Rusev when he was the one who kept using rest holds. But anyway if you want to watch a good match between this two, go watch the one they had before Summerslam. That was the best match on Raw since the brand split.

Why are we even having to admit things? Roman isn't responsible to have a 4 star match every single night. No one else does, and I hate this feeling like we have to defend him for one match when he's already got a plethora of great ones. AJ Styles and Kevin Owens managed to have a mediocre match together. Nobody questions their talent. Same thing here. This is September 2016, not January 2015. Roman Reigns is a proven good wrestler, and anyone who doesn't think so is entitled to that wrong opinion.

Reigns does the same thing every match so the only way he can have a good match is if the other guy puts on a great performance. I thought Rusev was pretty good so I thought the match was fine. I thought they missed an opportunity when they had Reigns just sit down after he laid Rusev out. The crowd was begging for him to just go crazy on him with a bunch of chair shots. Instead he only hit him once. I think showing some ruthless aggression would've been good for him.
