They really don’t trust Roman Reigns much with a mic at this point, do they?

It has been rather telling over the last few weeks. During the opening segment before the fatal four way for the title when him, Owens, Seth and Cass were together they didn’t even allow Roman to say a single word. During the video package for each of the guys Roman’s only had a single line by him while the others said much more.

His backstage segments have been quite similar with him saying barely anything and this week when he was opening RAW he couldn’t even get started saying anything on the mic before Stephanie interrupted and then it was basically her and Foley doing the talking and then Owens. Roman again was very restricted on the mic.

Even Cesaro is being allowed more mic time that Roman at this point. It is rather telling when you consider how they want Roman to be the face of the company and all that.

I get why they don’t trust him much with the mic, the results of doing so have just not being very good, he really can’t go at the mic. But if you don’t trust the guy enough to let him go at the mic at this point, then why are you slotting him in a spot he can’t fill?

Agree that moment at TLC 2015 where he just beat the crap out of the League of Nations and Triple H made me so pumped. And the audience was loving it. Even on the Raw after Reigns does the same again and people are loving it... then they go back to letting him smile and crack jokes... and people don't want that.

Thats all I want. Underetaker got super over early in his career by not saying a good damn word hardly. No reason why they cannot do the same with Roman, the problem with WWE is they want to keep looking for the next Rock so they keep giving people jokes and promo time :p

Not everyone needs to be handed a mic to get over!

What they need to do is not even let him touch a mic. That way you don't gotta do these obvious interruptions and segments where you can clearly see him being kept from talking. Just have him choose not to speak, so don't even have him come out and pick up a mic as if he's about to say something only for him to be interrupted quickly, it makes him look like an incompetent dumb ass whos being protected.

I agree, they do Reigns no favors when they handle things like that with him. I can understand doing this to geeky/comedic characters and the like but to a top guy like Reigns? It is detrimental to him and nothing is gained from it.

This is the same company that gave shit tier mic worker Seth Rollins 20 minute promos on every Raw for a year straight. Its not because they dont have faith in Romans mic work he's no worse than 99% of the Indy geeks on the mic, its because of the Indy geek fanboys who shit on every word he says because its the cool thing to do.

Because they're stubborn idiots.

The top guy(s) of the WWE have always been able to talk. Hogan. Savage. HBK. Austin. Rock. Cena. It's the one skill that isn't negotiatable as top guy. The weakest promo to memory was Bret Hart, but he made up for in the ring and was could cut a passionate promo that was longer than 5 minutes without losing the audience. Same with HBK. Reigns doesn't have it and never will. We would have seen it by now after 2+ years as a solo guy. All the top guys had those special moments before they went up the card successfully. Austin's iconic Austin 3:16 promo. Rock in the NoD. Cena as "The Doctor of Thuganomics." All showed those flashes in the mid card long before they got the top guy push.

He's never had that moment and the company has half-heartedly conceded he's never going to be that guy, but they're still holding out hope that he'll eventually wake up one morning with an epiphany, and tell Vince he's ready facilitate his own Austin 3:16 moment. It's a fools errand. He's been lapped up by 100% of his peers currently in the main event -- on both brands. They're simply holding out because of his look. If he looked like Sheamus, he'd be putting Darren Young over right now.

he hasn't been lapped by shit

theyve taken the title off ambrose because his reigns been lackluster, owens is a place holder due to balors injury, roman and rollins are both presented on the same level
cenas a level above
the only one whose lapped him is styles an being fair to styles hes been on the ball since he got here

your trying to compare reigns being scripted to say childish shite to austin and rock making their own promos up, i know reigns isnt that good of a talker but im sure hed be better saying his own words rather than the scripted shite they give him same goes for near enough everyone on the roster

as for main eventers having to be great talkers, hbk was never great, brock has never been great, goldberg, warrior, early taker, Bret all werent great talkers either
plus mic work is subjective

I don't think he's saying much right now because they're still deciding which direction they want to go with he and Seth after CoC. He can't be too much of a bad guy, or it'll fuck up things with Rusev at the moment, but he can't full on be a nice guy in case they want to make Seth a good guy and have him feud with Roman. It really feels like both of their characters are up in the air for the time being.

So if Reigns has a bad moment on the mic, happens alot. Know can call him out on it, in the fear of being accused of an indy fanboy? I don't like Indy wrestlers. I actually like Roman. But I Don't think he is great on the mic. I don't think he is average, he is god awful. And that is fine, he doesen't have to be strong on the mic, that is not his strength. Going oh Seth is just as bad, or anyone else. Owens is a beast on the mic, and he came from the indy curcit. Rollins has improoved big time on the mic, and delevered some serious heat in his promos. Reigns can't even connect. So don't give me that. Watched Reigns promo on Rusev on Raw this week, he has weak diction. Someone back needs to tell him to stop mumbing his words.

When was the last time he really humiliated himself on the mic? I think it was the Bray Wyatt feud, and then he's been ultra-protected on the mic since, and not expected to cut promos. Certainly not expected to cut solo promos. Yeah, they don't trust him on the mic at all, and rightfully so. They don't really trust him with anything.

Jesus Christ another Reigns thread look at that.

Reigns shouldn't be talking that much anyways. I always so play on a wrestlers strengths and Reigns strengths is in the ring and not on the mic. So keep him talking less and do his talking with his actions
