I think the first champion should be Austin Aries. He is the best wrestler in the weight division, he is the best mic worker in the division, and he is ready for the main event. Aries is the veteran that the younger talent must overcome.
I picture Gran Metalik, TJ Perkins, and Kota Ibushi will be brought up to the main roster and skip NXT. They have to build a division immediately.
Wouldn't be bothered by any of the guys that will obviously be at the forefront of the division, if I'm being entirely honest. I'd pick Aries if it was up to me, though.
With Gran Metalik coming in, I think they should turn Kalisto. In order to have 2 luchadors wrestle each other in a program for the first time since Eddie and Mysterio in the last generation, somebody has to be the heel.
I think the way it's going to go is the new HWC will be on Raw while the WWE world title (open weight) goes to Smackdown. A cruiserweight could in future years be drafted to Smackdown and challenge the WWE world champion.
Or they could just give the cruiserweight champion a shot at the HWC once a year at a PPV like Destination X. That worked out awesome for Austin Aries in TNA.
If Aries is still taking indy bookings, that can be brought to an end quickly given the opening of the spot on the main roster. Who the hell would turn down a main roster spot for hustling indy bookings between NXT tapings?
I'm 100% sure the winner of the Cruiserweight Classic will get the inaugural belt. Just like I said I wanted....
Except my plan was Shane's Smackdown to be the cool show, and she even had to explain herself as if her bitch ass even cares about Cruiserweights.
Why would they give Steph the freaking cruiserweight division? I rather give up the Womens division than let Raw have it, I mean that move completely undermines the point of splitting up the brand. Why fucking bother splitting the brands, if the whole reason to do it, is now not happening. I don't feel "oh we have an extra hour" as justification, just cancel the draft already before they make bigger fools of themselves:
They even fucking said, Dbry and Shane are here to keep Steph from ruining careers by her own selfish bullshit, and even fucking say "steph was a fucking bitch and constantly undermines the smaller guys"....Then within minutes say "oh but she gets the cruiserweight division"......
I got everything I wanted, but nothing will ever change if Stephanie remains on TV.
Until I see who gets drafted from NXT or if guys like Ibushi, Sabre Jr. are coming up to Raw, I still think Neville and/or Kalisto will be the first champion. As of right now, those are the two most well known cruiserweight stars they have on the main roster.
I think it's between three people now; Neville, Balor and Ibushi. Ibushi because he's still the favorite to win the CWC and it could happen that the winner of the tournament gets the belt right away. There are very few guys on the main roster who are 205lbs or less and the only ones who could realistically wear the belt and be credible are Neville and Zayn. Out of those two I think Neville is the better pick simply because his style is more high flying. Balor is also a realistic option as he's most likely getting called up tomorrow and has the most starpower out of all these guys.
The company that had Finn Balor down in NXT 2 years Sami Zayne for 3 and Neville for 4 is suddenly going to call up Ibushi or Mascara Dorada or ZSJ ( If they sign him) without a day spent in NXT.
It's funny that so many are voting for Neville when he hasn't even held a mid-card belt before. And you definitely don't put the belt on a guy returning from an injury. Logic, folks. Get some.
Woods should definitely be a future champion but he needs an established champion to overcome. This is why for everyone in the division, Aries is the man you have to beat to become the man.
What will the max weight limit be in the cruiserweight class? 205 lbs like it's now in the CWC or 225 lbs like back in the old cruiserweight class? I'd actually prefer a max weight limit of 220 lbs (99kg) but seeing that a lot of guys are 220 lbs or even less (at least that's what WWE tells us) they will probably keep the 205 lbs max weight limit.
It is imperative that the division have a good mix of wrestlers who work different styles (strong, lucha libre, and technical). It needs to stand out. Having smaller guys wrestling the same old boring style will kill it pretty quickly. It would be nice to see them model it on the early (96-97) WCW cruiserweight days. That division was exciting and featured different wrestlers who worked different styles, pretty much like their CWC show has done thus far.
I would start the cruiserweight division off with a bang, Ibushi or Metalik would be good picks.
Austin vs Neville would be some damn good TV.
Austin will carry the mic load, and both are more than capable in the ring, Austin is one of the best in WWE today and Neville is one of the best in the world.
Balor
Neville
Aries
Ibushi
Itami
Cedric alexander
Gran metalic
Zack zabre jr
And the list goes on and on. This cw division has POTENTIAL.
