Don't get me wrong I loved the shield I did and they complimented each other so well but I can't help but believe if dean debuted by himself by attacking and feuding with foley like his debut was originally planned then he'd be better then what he's showcased to be.
How could he have gotten over any more than he did with the Shield? All 3 members basically were shot way up the card just by being associated with that group. His feud vs Foley would have sucked ass in the PG era
Certainly not! He's seen as one of the top guys in the company and that is down to how he was pushed in the Shield. If he had come in solo, he wouldn't have got the same push. Neither would Seth Rollins. They were used as a way to get smart fans behind Roman Reigns and as a way for more experienced workers to cover for him.
Alternatively, look at Cesaro of Ohno. Both very talented guys, one made it to the main roster and has struggled while the other one was in developmental for a while but nothing ever came up, so he was released.
No, I think the the Shield gimmick was perfect and benefited all three guys. What they did with Ambrose after the Shield breakup has been deplorable. Whether it's intentional or not, they have basically been trying to ruin him by turning him into a total joke. He hadn't won a match for how long until like last week? A guy who is very over doesn't go on jobbing to everyone and when does do the job, there should be a payoff aka elevating some other guy the company wants to get behind. Now Dean Ambrose is very talented & that is why fans still cheer for him, they recognize he is legit. He fortunately has that going for him but it's very obvious he isn't as over as he was a few months ago.
He should've debuted as Chinese Food. They could've called up Chris Hero at the same time and let him use his Junk Food gimmick from NXT. Would've made a great feud.
Yes, Dean should have debuted on his own. I would have made him this tweener who had a chip on his shoulder, especially when it comes to talking about the current wrestling scene. I would love to hear Dean trash talk the Attitude Era. The same way the video aired of him having words with Mick Foley. His strength is his anger, and they aren't using it.
Considering the fact that he got called up to be apart of one of the greatest factions in wrestling history, I'd confidently say no. Yeah, debuting by himself wouldn't have been a bad idea either but knowing WWE, they would have found a way to fuck up his debut.
The hype for Ambrose's call-up was surreal looking back. Everyone was craving for him to debut at any point. I remember everyone armchair-booking him into feuds, being 100 percent sure he was gonna debut. "Guys, he's gonna be revealed as AJ Lee's crazy boyfriend and feud with Daniel Bryan!" :lol
It couldn't end up any worse for him than it already has, and he wouldn't have had to carry 2 geeks for 2 years, so why the hell not? This way failed, you might as well take a gamble and see if he'd get pushed the other way. You never know if you don't try.
Other than getting the Shield's debut match and the match with the Wyatt's, I can't think of anything good that came out of that run.
Of course not. The Shield were great exposure for all three guys. Those guys would not have nearly as much success if they debuted alone. The Shield was the right way to debut new talent. It's not like Ambrose is in a terrible position himself. He's main-evented 2 ppvs in single matches this year.
Absolutely not. The Shield gave a huge boost to all three members and allowed them all a good start. Ambrose is massively over as a babyface right now, and Seth Rollins is unquestionably the top full-time heel.
They've completely fucked up Roman Reigns at this point, but that can be fixed.
No, all 3 members of the shield are where they are now because of the shield, if they debuted as singles none of them would have had what they have now, Ambrose as a singles guy would have never had a 351 day title reign, he would have never gotten to step in the ring with the undertaker and the rock.
I still think he would have been alright though because he is too talented to ignore or keep down, he's in the same vein as Punk, Bryan and Jericho etc. in that no matter how much shit the booking is that WWE give him he would make it work and still be over with the fans.
In short he would probably be in a similar position possibly a bit further down the card, but his accolades he received during the shield run probably far outweigh what he would have gotten alone and I think that helped him become one of the top guys today.
No, I loved The SHIELD too much and they gave us some epic memories/matches against Wyatts, Evolution etc. and they had too much of a great run to make me think of any of them solo debuting instead
I was seriously interested in his potential feud with Foley, and who knows - I would certainly like to see it happen as some point.
But debuting as a member of The Shield is the best rub any debuting wrestler has had for years, and he is one of 3. He may be the one that's seemingly lost at the moment, but he's still there at the top of the card. I just think those in charge to be consistent with him in a linear direction.
It sure was a hard pick between chinese food and no...as much as I love chinese food I still had to say no...sorry chinese food, maybe next time:shrug
If dean embrose was as good(on his own) as my first encounter with chinese food I might have another opinion though:shrug
