Essentially we can make or break superstars. Some of the audience love to shit on matches, chant CM Punk during AJ Lee matches, and become very vocal about what you do or do not like. Which is not a bad thing, but sometimes becomes over the top. For example Batista Royal Rumble win in 2014 was the most shitted on thing i've ever seen before. Poor guy probably wont ever want to return after the abuse he received. No wonder we haven't seen him since he left.
But with the Reigns super-push, he's got 'da look' and it's obvious WWE want this guy to be their next top babyface star. But with the reactions he is getting, due to us, his push may be delayed encase of another Royal Rumble winner travesty that happened to Batista.
Audience make or break superstars, but yeah Reigns/Batista are two examples of how cruel audiences can be. Poor guys.
Shitting on matches is cruel. Busting their ass, only to hear 'CM Punk' or 'Daniel Bryan' chants. Not acceptable. Boring? yeah fine, you don't like it. But it's just disrespectful.
How is it disrespectful when the WWE is the one being dumb and putting out a product the fans don't fucking want? if the fans hate something they have a right to voice their opinion.
Reigns is talented, i'm not even a mark of his. He's definitely got stuff going for him, he'll only improve. You can't be perfect when you're just starting out as a singles career. You learn, adapt, and work on things that need working on. He'll be a star one day, whether you like him being the top babyface or not. Personal feeling aside, if you were a young kid... he has everything you want in a 'good-guy.'
Talented??? He's got the looks that Vince likes to have a slow wank over. But Reign's needs serious work first to be put anywhere near the main event. Could he pull it off one day, maybe with a lot of hard work.
I actually agree. The audience tends to never give wrestlers a chance. Just look at the New Day. They were having a decent although pointless match with Goldust and Stardust yet the audience decided to trash it. Why though? Have the New Day done anything particularly bad? Why do they deserve to be shit on?
Roman Reigns is a product of WWE's stupidity in thinking the fans would give someone as protected as him a chance. We needed to see what he could do a long time ago but WWE missed their chance. If he wins the Rumble and fights Lesnar (not Cena) then his career is over. WWE would be the only one to blame.
You would have a point if people were chanting "Merry Christmas" during a Slater vs. Sin Cara match. Or they were chanting "what?" during a Cena promo. When they are chanting what from the very beginning of a Bray Wyatt promo and chanting random shit during the Ambrose/Wyatt street fight I call bullshit. It's just a handful of people being assholes and getting clueless people to join in with them.
I mean, ffs sake. We've seen threads here where people bragged about how they were going to shit all over a show in their town days in advance. How the hell do you argue they aren't being entertained when the show is 5 days out?
I think there are a number of people that refuse to open up and allowed themselves to be entertained, tbh. Not saying the whole product is great. I am saying there are good parts of it that some of us enjoy and have grown tired of asshats in the crowd ruining it.
Ok, I agree and disagree. It is cruel to chant stuff like boring during a match, CM Punk for AJ, etc. But shitting on ppl for being over pushed is awesome. I love when Cena gets booed, and if they turn Reigns into Cena 2.0 then I hope he gets booed. I don't think Reigns would have the fan support of a Cena tho so it would be mostly boos.
I don't have a problem with the Cena stuff. I actually love the "John Cena sucks" thing the Brits do with his theme music. That is legit protest of the direction of the product imo.
As for Batista, maybe WWE shouldn't of fucking announced Batista is returning in the royal rumble. They basically killed any surprise hype and no one gave a shit about anything else besides Daniel Bryan. Batista definitely deserved better, the WWE is at its worst almost more so than ever.
They should have him return heel, been the 30th man at that years RR and after Bryan starting at number 1 fighting his way through a ton of wrestlers gets thrown over the rope by Batista. You could have Bryan get his revenge like he did at WM and Batista return would have got him major heat and would have been more successful , he would have been the most hated heel in the company (he was even though he was a face :laugh but it would have worked out better then the way they did it.
If you shit on superstars + matches, how do you expect them to get over and new stars be built? essentially, you cause WWE to scrap their push/gimmick and they get fucked over. Sound cruel now? you guys can make or break a character. Don't destroy every person you don't like. We lost Batista by doing it.

If you don't like what the WWE is doing, then you should let your voice be heard. If fans just sheepishly cheered for everything then we would have John Cena dressed up in an animal costume tag teaming Adam Rose with the Bunny.
You can show up at the show and make fart noises with your mouth. You can show up and chant "I like tacos" for three hours. You can show up to the show and boo all the faces and cheer all the heels. Guess what? At the end of the day they still made the exact same amount of money from you than they would have had you cheered the faces and booed the heels. They made the same amount from you as they would have if you sat silently.
The WWE is an entertainment business now (with the emphasis being business). They got out of wrestling a long time ago.
The WWF radically changed it's product in the mid/late 90s. Do you think this was because people were chanting random shit out in the crowd? Do you think it was because anonymous people were posting their dislike for the product on an internet message board?
As a "WCW guy living in a WWE world" you should know this better than anyone, it was because WCW starting kicking their asses and it was either change the product or go out of business. The random chants are because the fans are bored and tired of the repetitive crap WWE keeps feeding to them. LOL at anyone suggesting they shouldn't do that and just take whatever the WWE gives to them and like it.
The audience would be more cruel if they let WWE get away with stuff that insults their intelligence, allowing them to put up a crappy product that nobody will watch .
If I bought a product that absolutely sucks, it's helpful to the producer to give some feedback about its quality instead of letting them think that it's perfectly fine. Basic customer stuff.
WWE is very lucky to get instant feedback on the product that they're putting out.
People have a right to chant what they want. But I am baffled that so many people seem to go to a show with the express intention of shitting all over the show. If you dislike something, pay 35 bucks or more to go see it (hell more if you are the smarks in the front row who obviously paid a lot for the tickets.) Then shit dislike it like you said you would... truthfully those fans look more stupid than the WWE does.
At the end of the day if they have your money than they probably don't care that much.
The only people that get crap from crowds are either overpushed boring or annoying guys i cant blame the crowd.
We need to hear those john cena suck during his theme song i love the british crowds they always passionate wether its Soccer or wrestling why are crowds at America always so dead you guys must be more lively its only at those big cities where i see passion :eyeroll
Or it's guys that the smarks have determined are now stale... Like Bray Wyatt who has been nowhere near "overpushed", yet started getting "what?!"'s during his promos.... and let's not forget the "Husky Harris" chants that he got after his debut.
OP has opened a can of worms here, but I actually tend to agree in certain respects. If a guy is going out there and busting his ass, traveling every day of the year, never getting to see his family, I'm not going to boo the guy who's just trying to entertain me... I'm just not going to give them my money to watch their shows.
If I had a kid, and hired a magician to perform at his birthday, I'm not going to boo and heckle the guy if he sucks, I'm just not going to hire him again.
WWE fans these days have this mindset of, "well, I know ____ is going to happen, and I don't want to see that, but I'm going to pay to see it just so I can boo and crap on it". Money talks, and if you want your voice heard (no pun intended), show them that you don't like what they're putting out by not going to their shows and not watching the product. That would do far more than booing some random guy who's been wrestling every night of the week in a different town just trying to entertain us.
Also, the fans that try and "hijack" the shows are loser dorks who want to ruin it for the majority of the other fans in attendance.
I was going to agree with you until you used the Punk example.. It's not cruel chanting Punk during AJ's matches, not at all.. Geeks like AJ are use to getting ignored and shoved to the side.. They want to see Punk over AJ, although i agree Punk is never coming back. I don't blame the fans. Punk is way more entertaining... If AJ is not entertaining the fans enough to get them to chant her name, that's her problem.
I do sorta feel bad when Ryback is doing his Feed Me More chant and has lost control of the audience, who are chanting "where's our network" like in the UK. I mean, the guy IS just trying to do his job, and nobody chanting with him while he looks panicked must suck. Some audiences are there just to entertain themselves, its true. However, WWE putting guys in situations where they get shit on and its not their fault is pretty unfair. Like following up a co-main event with a throw away match like Kofi vs Miz to act as a buffer before the main event. Those guys are being set up for failure and that's on the Fed, not them.
