The misconception of Cameron being awful

This needs to be discussed especially after her performance just now. Her abilities are indicative of a much, much better performer than others on here continually make her out to be.

This misconception of Cameron being awful has persisted for months upon months and been perpetuated by many internet marks. It's certainly common to run into a few comments claiming she is "the worst diva of all time" or something to that effect. In other words, exaggeration, exaggeration, and more exaggeration, with little to no validity to said claims. Will I debate that she was awful during her initial run? No, I won't. Yes she was awful as expected of a then rookie with no prior wrestling experience or little in-ring training. Am I debating that she's the best diva or some ringsmith? No. But clearly a year makes a huge difference for any new wrestler, and Cameron is no exception. In my opinion, she has blossomed into a decent worker in the ring with better knowledge of selling, psychology, time placement of moves, and the entire nine yards. In other words, not "the worst diva of all time". Women like Sable, Chyna, Ashley Massaro, to name a few were far worse off in the ring. And she has always superior as a character worker; she even at one point was getting some decent heat during the initial run of her program with Naomi.

Also, inb4 the predictable post of the supposed split-legged botch Cameron did on Naomi.

I've actually never watched a match of her's. I've heard so many negative things about her though. Every time she competes it's usually on Superstars or house shows, i don't watch that shit.

As expected, shoal responses comprise most of the discussion. Most don't even attempt to dissect fully why Cameron perhaps is a subpar worker, whether it be observing areas she may lack as a wrestler or as an actress, because the logic assumes that Cameron being awful or atrocious is universal fact. In the essence, "I'm always right, and anyone who believes otherwise is delusional or a moron or a troll." Pretty infantile tbh.

She's had a few matches on Smackdown and RAW and a PPV match at Battleground. I suggest you watch her handicap matches she had against Nikki Bella, as those are her magna opera as a performer.

One thing I noticed you didn't bring up was her seeking to make it big even outside of the WWE. A lot of people are content with whatever success being in WWE brings them but Cameron wants more and decided to branch out in the music business.

Would love for her and Iggy to do a collaboration.
True. She isn't the only one to get hammered for branching outside of the wrestling sphere. Both Batista and Dwayne got heat for going into Hollywood, among others. Many expect these men and women to sit at home and rot until they die once they retire from wrestling, which is completely selfish and sad.

I've explained the Cameron "leg botch" so many times and people will still bring it up. :eek:ut

Also expect people to bring up the Alicia Fox vs Melina video which Cameron herself explained on Jericho's podcast.

Y'know, Vince is a damn genius, and if the Bellas had a hand in creating Total Divas, then they're hella smart too. Cameron & Eva Marie should still be in NXT, period, yet they've gained more internet fans and defenders than most of the main roster. All because of a heavily scripted "reality" show.

Yup. Even Eva kept saying she was pulled out of developemental way too early. They know they suck so I don't know why people keep trying to pretend Eva and Cameron are improving that much lol.

I think if she were good at the stuff she tries to branch out in then it'd be fine but she can't sing so....

I'd rather her go continue to make shit songs than pretending she wants to be a wrestler. I'll say that I respect her for knowing she sucked and wanted to go back to develope herself because lord knows she needs all the help she can get. I don't know what matches you watch but maybe the other person is so good they make Cameron look good because.... :frankielol she's pretty horrible.

Cameron is decent enough in small doses. She probably should still be in a team. I would put her with Summer and let Layla do her own thing as she (Layla) can stand on her own as a character and worker. Cameron still needs a bit of help here and there, but she is actively trying to improve, unlike say Eva Marie.

To be fair most if not all of the divas look awful on the main roster. It's night and day with NXT, if she really has improved i'd like to see it on nxt, same goes for eva marie for that matter. Coming to realise you just can't judge from performances on Raw anymore. All you can judge on this is poor timing and poor selling, Cameron isn't a poor seller though.

I agree with you that she isn't awful. She is rather restricted like every diva and is still adjusting to time limits and what not. I'm sure wrestling on Raw in front of tens of thousands of people, with millions of watching at home live and having a restricted moveset and time cuts constantly would be scary, nerve racking and would take some time to get use to. I mean it took Paige like 6 months to basically come out her shell and get use to all of ths and she has been wrestling since she was 13, compared to Cameron who started training in 2011 and was called up to the main roster far to quickly.

Whilst I agree she isn't awful, she does make awful mistakes though, for example the botched pin on Naomi and just some little mistakes you notice watching her matches form her body language. However she sold Alicia's finisher fine on Raw last night and she is a really good seller. I'm sure with more experience under her belt, she will keep improving.

I too would also like for her to have a match on NXT to actually see the skills she has. However here are a couple of matches she had on FCW when she just first started training which aren't all bad and she was given a fair amount of time (for diva standards) to work a match.

There are various videos such as live event footage that showcases that she can work a match. She plays a really good heel and even uses Daniel Brayn's move he used in the indies as one of her moves as well as the Codebreaker. She has the potential to be good, she just needs to get more experience under her belt to improve more.

Sadly though I don't think the IWC will forgive her for the Melina vs Alicia Fox comment on Tough Enough and her trying to pin Naomi on her back.

She's pretty bad. But that's WWE's fault for throwing her out there without a proper run in NXT. Cameron's just there making the most out of the camera time, really. She stinks yet is featured on TV nearly every week, is on a reality show, and collects money for being awful. Doesn't sound like a bad set up to me.

However, the fact she's on TV when Sasha Banks can do everything Cameron does character wise 300% better and back it up in the ring, but is left to rot in NXT, makes this a crime that's hard to overlook.

Nah she's still pretty bad, some time down in NXT could do her wonders.

Yes, OP lets discuss the misconception you have that Cameron isn't terrible :jericho2

Whatever, if you want to have the opinion that she is not terrible, ok, not the point for me, whether she is actually terrible or not is irrelevant for me as I personally do not find anything she does entertaining, and I also personally think her music is terrible as well.

While Ariane/Cameron isn't the best on the roster, the fact is she herself knew that people hated on her for the Melina vs Alicia Fox thing (how long ago was this now? The IWC cling onto everything) so she risked her career by asking to go back to NXT and potentially not come back.

I really don't think she's that bad at all and you can see in every one of her most recent matches she's trying hard. And plus, she, unlike many smark faves, got the nod of approval from Jake Roberts for her DDT execution.

But that one pin botch (Randy also tried to pin someone on their back recently IIRC but escaped the hatred because he's not a diva) and the 'Melina vs Alicia' thing get dragged up every time.

she is a good heel. i'll give her that. her bitchiness jumps out of the screen and she really looks like she's bullying her opponents. its just hard to like her when everything seems so calculated and not fluid.

she most definitely looked better on raw this past week than any match in the past that ive seen of hers.
