Detroit will get through this current situation but will most likely not learn anything from it and eventually have it happen again.... but it's still Detroit and it's still my city and I'll always love it.... that how alot of people feel here. DETROIT STAND UP!
Not that I'm a die hard fan but I love me some hockey with The Wings being my favourite team & I live in bloody England, got a jersey as well when I went to America a few years ago & made a point in my 2 week holiday to see The Wings play. So, assuming I'm not the only person to do things like this, the tourism is there to possibly justify it.

It's needed. The Joe has to be torn town to increase space for the neighboring Cobo Hall for convention space. Also, the Joe is ancient because of lack of upgrades over the years.

That's just awesome to hear. A place so far away from Detroit like England which isn't for known hockey or it's love of hockey has Wings fans. Having such a huge fan-base is why people from all over the world and people from Michigan will fill up The Big House (University of Michigan football stadium) with 100,000 plus fans for the upcoming Winter Classic.

It will create jobs in the process too.

Shame though, I do love the current arena as it is.

Just wish it was bigger over here, loved the NFL match that was held at Wembley.

Have you been there or only it seen on TV? There is no denying the magical feeling you get when you walk through the curtains to get to the seats and you see the ice and all the banners hanging from the ceiling for the first time.

I've been there. Before and after the game was a bit sketchy but it was worth it for the time spent in the stadium. It really is a special place.

Edit: I was backpacking at the time so I'm not a local.

Detroit doesn't fuck around. I've never been so uncomfortable in a city in my life haha.

I was pretty much running to the bus back to Windsor.
